News broke on Tuesday afternoon that the New York Mets number six and nine prospects, J.T. Ginn and Alexander Ramirez, have been assigned to a MiLB roster, with Tylor Megill getting the promotion to Triple-A.

The former Hail State product, J.T. Ginn, underwent Tommy-John surgery to repair his right elbow in March 2020. After over a year of recovery, Ginn is being placed on a professional roster for the first time in his young career. He will report to the Low-A affiliate St. Lucie Mets this week. Ginn features a high-velocity sinker with hard movement towards the arm side along with a devastating slider. If it weren’t for the surgery during his Sophomore season, Ginn would have lined up to be a first-round pick. Instead, the Mets were able to steal him in the second round.

The New York Mets signed Alexander Ramirez out of the Dominican Republic for $2.05 million in the 2019 international signing class. Ramirez’s progression at the professional level was derailed due to the pandemic in 2020, but he is getting his first shot in professional ball with the St. Lucie Mets this week at 17-years old.
Ramirez showed signs of plus power and speed in instructional camps. He will most likely spend the rest of his season at the Low-A level, getting as many at-bats as possible. If all goes right, scouts give him the potential to be a 5-tool player in this Mets system.
“He’s a lean-built outfielder. His body’s going to fill out really well. He’s a big kid, a lean, athletic looking kid who’s going to develop physically — the type of ideal body that we like.”

The Syracuse Mets will be gaining a very impressive arm, as a right-handed pitcher, Tylor Megill, will get the promotion from Double-A. This season Megill has tossed twenty-six innings for the Rumble Ponies, striking out forty-two and accumulating an ERA of 3.12. In that time, he has only allowed seven walks and features a WHIP of 1.077. This promotion was well-deserved for Megill as he’s been one of the most reliable starters in this Mets system.
