MetsMinors has confirmed that infielder Jeff McNeil will miss the rest of the season. McNeil had been out of action since April 12th because of a sports hernia that he had surgery for. He was orignally expected to return within six to eight weeks, however, his brother announced last week he would miss the rest of the minor league season.

This is disappointing to hear from a player who was excelling and added weight on in the offseason for this season. Get well soon Jeff and hope to see you in spring training in 2017 100% healthy.

Jeff was hitting .250/.357/.583 in just three games for the Binghamton Mets before the injury bug hit. He is Rule 5 eligible this offseason for the first time in his career.

He was coming off a career year in 2015 that saw him named to the Florida State League mid-season and post-season all-star teams. In 2015, he also played shortstop, second base, third base, first base and center field while getting time in left field during the Arizona Fall League.
