Las Vegas 7, Reno 5

The JV1 robot seems to have found a nice home in Las Vegas, as his first two games there have brought him great success and two Las Vegas wins. Valdespin was 3-for-4 in this game with a double and two runs driven in. Matt den Dekker has also been on a mini tear as of late, and had himself a good game as well, with a double and a pair of RBIs of his own. The young center fielder is certainly working to make his case to be a September call-up for the New York Mets.

On the mound last night was Matt Fox, who was so-so through five innings, and allowed four earned runs. He was taken deep by, of all people, Mike Jacobs in the bottom of the first for a two-run shot. 51s bullpen was on lock for most of the game though, and Jack Leathersich and Robert Carson dominated the Aces’ to close the game out in the eighth and ninth, respectively.

The three-run Las Vegas ninth inning is what sealed it for the 51s, where Ruben Tejada and den Dekker had big RBI doubles to put them ahead.
