Headlined by top prospects Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith, the Las Vegas 51s, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, released their preliminary roster on Sunday.

The 51s will look to rebound from a lackluster 2016 season, which saw them finish with a 70-74 record and a third place finish in the Pacific Coast League’s Pacific-South division. They are led by Pedro Lopez, who comes to Las Vegas after five seasons at the helm of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (née Mets).

The 51s’ roster is listed in its entirety below.

Pitchers (13)

RHP Wilfredo Boscan

RHP Chase Bradford

LHP Sean Gilmartin

RHP Erik Goeddel

RHP Donovan Hand

RHP Ricky Knapp

RHP Kevin McGowan

LHP David Roseboom

RHP Ben Rowen

RHP Paul Sewald

RHP Logan Taylor

RHP Beck Wheeler

LHP Adam Wilk

Catchers (3)

Xorge Carrillo

Jeff Glenn

Kevin Plawecki

Infielders (5)

Gavin Cecchini

Phillip Evans

Matt Reynolds

Amed Rosario

Dominic Smith

Outfielders (4)

Jayce Boyd

Victor Cruzado#

Josh Rodriguez

Travis Taijeron

No surprises here, as all of the listed players were expected to make the team after the Mets made their final roster cuts. The rotation will likely be some order of Boscan, Gilmartin, Hand, Knapp, and Wilk. While Sewald, Roseboom, and Goeddel will head what looks to be a strong bullpen.

The group of infielders is very strong, led by Rosario and Smith, but Evans, who led the Eastern League with a .335 average in 2016, should not be forgotten.

In the outfield, Cruzado will likely slide over to center field, while Taijeron, who returns to Las Vegas for a third season, will man right field. Boyd and Rodriguez, who re-signed with the organization on Thursday, will split duties in left field.

The 51s, like the rest of the Mets’ full-season affiliates will open their season on Thursday, April 6, when they take on the El Paso Chihuahuas. The home opener at Cashman Field is scheduled for April 11 against the Fresno Grizzlies.
