Lucas Duda Blasts Fourth Inning Home Run

It may only be the second game of spring training, but it seems the battle over first base is already heating up.

Yesterday, Ike Davis hit a two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth to put the Mets up 4-1, and today Lucas Duda fired back with a homer of his own.

In the bottom of the fourth, Duda hit a home run to right field off of Miami’s Arquimedes Caminero to tie the game at 1.

Based off the comments from today’s MMO game thread the fans certainly still seem split on who they think should be anchoring the team at first base this season.

Obviously, this is an extremely small sample size, and there isn’t much that can be inferred from the data so far, but it does seem that neither player is going to go down without a fight.
