Lucie Rumblings: Fulmer And Bowman On DL, Two Called Up From GCL

I’ve got a quick update that I would’ve slipped into a St. Lucie game recap if we had one — but their game was rained out last night and they’ll attempt to make it up as part of a double-header today.

Michael Fulmer was placed on the DL yesterday, likely related to the comebacker that drilled him in his last start on August 18th. He was forced out of the game after 3.1 shutout innings and there was worry about a potential shoulder injury. Quite frankly, this is pretty unlucky for Fulmer, who has only made seven starts for St. Lucie because he was rehabbing from a meniscus surgery in the first half of this year. The original injury was “bicep tendinitis” so we’ll see what happens.

Fulmer joins Matthew Bowman on the DL, who hit the 7-Day two days ago and is temporarily shut down. This is supposedly just an innings limit move, as Noah Syndergaard had his last start skipped too. He’s supposed to pitch on Monday, though.

St. Lucie did make two corresponding moves to replace their arms by calling up two guys from the GCL team. Ty Williams was called up for Fulmer yesterday, and Octavio Acosta was called up two days ago and could start game one of today’s double-header.
