For the second straight day Team Spain crushed their European Championship opponent in a seven inning mercy shortened game. Earlier today it was Greece in a 12-1 victory led by Mets shortstop prospect Luis Guillorme.
Guillorme, who didn’t play in game one after a late Thursday night flight, led off for Spain against Greece and played shortstop. He went 2 for 4 with a run scored, stolen base and a run batted in.
Former Mets top prospect Fernando Martinez went 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs scored for Spain as their designated hitter in game two. In Spain’s game one 11-1 win over Belgium the former Teenage Hitting Machine had three hits including a home run and knocked in five runs.
Spain plays again on Sunday versus Croatia, who lost 16-1 to France in their first game of the tournament.
