Former Mets prospect Marcos Molina has been suspended for the remainder of the season for testing positive for Clostebol. Clostebol is delineated as a banned performance enhancing drug by Major League Baseball.

This year was Molina’s first full season since he returned from Tommy John surgery. In 16 starts between Binghamton and Las Vegas, Molina was 1-10 with a 6.94 ERA and a 1.800 WHIP.

There were many reports Molina has been struggling with his velocity. He also had command issues as evidenced by his career worst 1.88 K/BB ratio.

The Mets released Molina on July 11th, and he had not been picked up by another organization. With this suspension, it appears Molina’s chances of getting signed by someone this year has been further diminished.
