Matt Blackham Earns Second Straight Reliever of the Month Award

For the second straight month, Colombia Fireflies right-hander Matt Blackham has been named the South Atlantic League Relief Pitcher of the Month.

In August, Blackham, threw 10.2 scoreless innings while allowing only five hits, two walks and 14 strikeouts.

The last time that Matt allowed an earned run was on June 27th. Since then he has thrown 25.2 scoreless innings with 37 strikeouts and has allowed only one extra base hit in that span.

Blackham missed the entire 2016 season, but has bounced back with a 1.46 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 80 strikeouts compared to only 19 walks in 55.2 innings this year.

The 24-year-old is eligible for the Rule 5 draft this offseason.
