According to Adam Rubin, Reese Haven retired today.

After a 5-year career in the minor leagues, Havens retired. He was drafted by the Mets in the 1st round of the 2008 draft at 22nd overall out of University of South Carolina. Many thought Havens was going to be the Mets’ 2nd Baseman of the future with good instincts at 2nd base and a powerful left-handed bat, but after his time in Brooklyn, he started to incur chronic injuries.

When he wasn’t injured, he was brilliant with the bat, and showed why the Mets regarded him so highly. At 27 today, and never getting out of Triple-A, Reese announced his retirement.

We all hope the best for Havens, here at Metsminors.net and hope you enjoy your retirement.
