As previously noted by MMN, the Mets will be sending Tomas Nido, Luis Guillorme, David Thompson, and Kevin Kaczmarski to the Arizona Fall League. In addition to the position players, the Mets will be sending Pitching Coach Jonathan Hurst and four pitching prospects with them:

Three highly questionable selections, IMO. When did AFL become a catch-up class for over-aged indy ball reclamation projects?? I like what we saw from Jannis the second half of the season. But a 29-year old in an advanced instructional league?
All I can imagine is that the Mets are trying to hide their legitimate pitching prospects from view so the kids don’t get taken in the Rule 5 draft.
Only have one spot for players below AA, and most of those prospects have seen time in the big leagues or already thrown enough innings making this group not that surprising at all.
I agree. Lots of Rule 5 decisions and they don’t want anyone getting too good a look.
I think its quite, quite surprising. I’m not sure how you arrive at your analysis. But no matter how you slice it, 26, 28, 29 year olds going to AFL is exceedingly rare. It just isn’t done, and there are good reasons why its not. I’m pretty confident that if you check the rosters of each and every team, you will find very, very few (if any) in that age rage.
As for the AFL roster rules, they are non-binding and have become virtually meaningless over the past ten years or so. Just take a look at who the Mets sent to AFL last year – Nido, Oswalt, Molina, and Corey Taylor (not to mention Tim Tebow) – none of those had played a single game above advanced-A.
Teams can (and do) request exceptions to the AFL roster rules, and those an exceptions are always, always granted. And the Mets have been sending mostly adv-A players for probably a decade now.
Yeah, I’m aware of the rule(s). I didn’t say the Mets had to send A-ball players. There are other AA players whose inclusion in AFL would make more sense when you weigh where they are in their development, their ages, and how much/long of a future they have with the organization, IMO.

Follow-up: after checking the AZL rosters, Jannis and Regnault are the only two players older than 26 (out of 180 total players), and they’re both significantly older (in minor league context).
Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family…..On tuesday I got a great new Land Rover Range Rover from having earned $8752 this last four weeks.. Its the most-financialy rewarding I’ve had.. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it

Head scratcher. I like Jannis but I was thinking one of the relievers Mets traded for or Single A pitcher like a Crismatt or even one of the recent draft picks
