The Mets just announced that they have signed righthander Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league deal. Of course that includes a Spring Training invite.
I like having the 33-year old Dice-K back, who seemed to rediscover his old self after three bad starts and a fix by pitching coach Dan Warthen.
After allowing 15 earned runs in his first 12.1 innings pitched, the former Japanese phenom held the opposition to just four runs in his next 26.1 inning spanning four starts.
That resulted in a 3-0 record with a 1.37 ERA with a 0.835 WHIP to close out the season and finish with a flourish. Not bad, huh?
Overall he posted a 4.42 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in seven starts with the Mets.
Looks like this will wrap it up as far as adding fifth starter types..
Welcome back, Dice-K…
I can’t watch and won’t watch another game of this guy pitching for the Mets or anyone else. He represents everything I hate in a pitcher. He works so slow it hurts to watch an inning, wh does everything he can to avoid throwing a strike or going after a hitter. He throws so many pitches per inning and per batter he has almost no chance of getting past the 5th inning which takes 2 hours in te games he pitches to get to. If you describe a guy like Harvey who goes right after guys and seems like he can’t wait to throw the next pitch then I would describe this guy as a pussy cat. I hate this signing, for the fans, for the bullpen, and for the guys in the field who work behind him! I don’t care if he pitches to a 2 ERA I won’t watch him, period!
Sorry for the typos, did that post on my phone. Also it should say if you describe Harvey as a bulldog.
