As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Tucson Padres @ Las Vegas 51s, 3:05pm EST
Arturo Lopez (1-0, 4.15 ERA) vs. Daryl Thompson (2-0, 4.32 ERA)
The 51s send Thompson to the mound for their final regular season game today. He’s appeared for the 51s three times since joining the organization, and won his first start his last time out, which came on August 28th against Colorado. He allowed four runs on six hits (one home run), three walks, and six strikeouts in six innings of work.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats @ Binghamton Mets, 1:05pm EST
Marcus Stroman (8-5, 3.47 ERA) vs. Mark Cohoon (9-4, 4.00 ERA)
Cohoon’s last start came on August 28th against Bowie, but it was a short outing. He allowed two hits, no walks, and two strikeouts in two shutout innings of work. He takes the mound with hopes of bringing his season ERA down under 4.00. Over his last 10 appearances (56.2 IP), he’s 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA.
Greenville Drive @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 12:00pm EST
TBD vs. Marcos Camarena (5-3, 3.42 ERA)
Camarena takes the mound for Savannah’s final regular season game before preparing for the playoffs to start on Wednesday. He got hit hard on August 27th against Rome, allowing eight run on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts. He’s lost his last two decisions, and hasn’t won since July 27th, spanning five starts. He does take the ball at Grayson Stadium today, something he hasn’t done since August 7th. He’s 5-0 with 2.87 ERA in front of the home crowd.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Tri-City Valley Cats, 5:00pm EST
The Cyclones try to keep their playoff hopes alive in their last series of the regular season. The probable starters haven’t been announced yet.
Greeneville Astros @Kingsport Mets, 7:00pm EST
Chris Lee (2-2, 3.10 ERA) vs. Carlos Gomez (2-0, 0.00 ERA)
The K-Mets take a 1-0 series lead thanks to a superb performance last night from Chris Flexen. Tonight, the Kingsport website says they’re sending Gomez to the mound. He’s making his first start since July 7th, and the last two games he’s appeared in have come in a relief role. However, he still hasn’t allowed an earned run this season, spanning 23 innings pitched. He last pitched on August 23rd against Bluefield, allowing three hits, no walks, and four strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. Through three appearances as a starter, opponents are hitting .140 off him.
