The New York Mets have announced LHP Sean Burnett has been activated from Extended Spring Training. With both Ryan O’Rourke and Daniel Zamora having been called up, there was a spot in the Syracuse bullpen for a left-handed reliever.

Burnett last pitched in the majors in 2016. In 10 relief appearances for the Washington Nationals, he was 0-0 with a 3.18 ERA, 1.059 WHIP, and a 4.8 K/9. After being released by the Phillies on the eve of the 2017 season, Burnett did not pitch that season. He would return last year to pitch in the Marlins organization. In 18 relief appearances between Double and Triple-A, he was 1-2 with a 5.23 ERA, 1.742 WHIP, and a 10.5 K/9.

The Columbia Fireflies has also activated first baseman Chase Chambers from the seven day injured list before yesterday’s game. Chambers had been on the injured list with a broken finger. In last night’s game, he was 0-for-3 with with a walk and an RBI.

Right-handed pitcher Dedniel Nunez was promoted from Columbia to St. Lucie. The 23 year old started three games and made one relief appearance for the Fireflies going 3-1 with a 4.03 ERA, 0.761 WHIP, and a 13.3 K/9. So far this year, Nunez has struck out at least seven batters in each on one of his appearances.

There was room for Nunez on the St. Lucie roster because Max Kuhns was released by the Mets organization. Kuhns was activated from the disabled list just last week after having undergone Tommy John surgery in 2017. In his lone appearance for St. Lucie this season, Kuhns allowed one earned in two innings pitched.
