As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Las Vegas 51s @ Salt Lake Bees, 8:35pm EST
Carlos Alvarado (4-3, 3.09 ERA) vs. Billy Buckner (6-2, 4.24 ERA)
Alvarado has struggled of late, losing his last three starts. However, he performed the worst in his most recent start, which came on August 12th against New Orleans. He allowed six runs on six hits, two walks, and two strikeouts in just two innings pitched. It was just the third time in nine starts since joining the organization he hasn’t lasted at least five innings, and those six earned runs are the most he’s given up all season for the 51s.
New Britain Rock Cats @ Binghamton Mets, 7:05pm EST
Matthew Summers (1-2, 6.88 ERA) vs. Mark Cohoon (8-3, 4.07 ERA)
Cohoon has won his last four starts, with his most recent victory coming on August 11th against Erie. He allowed one run on five hits, one walk, and three strikeouts in six innings pitched. Some of his time has been spent in the bullpen, but he’s accumulated 95.1 innings as a starter, going 6-3 with a 3.87 ERA and .286 opponent batting average.
St. Lucie Mets @ Jupiter Hammerheads, 5:35pm EST
Alex Panteliodis (6-4, 4.20 ERA) vs. Angel Sanchez (2-2, 2.72 ERA)
After a solid bounce back start on August 2nd, Panteliodis didn’t have nearly as much fun on August 11th against Palm Beach. He came away with the no decision, but allowed seven runs (three earned) on eight hits (one homer), two walks, and one strikeout in 4.2 innings pitched. He’ll be looking to try and get back in a groove on the road, which has been hard for him this season. In 28.2 innings pitched (six starts) away from Tradition Field, Panteliodis is 1-3 with a 6.59 ERA and .336 opponent batting average.
Savannah Sand Gnats @ Augusta Green Jackets, 5:30pm EST
Tim Peterson (0-0, 5.79 ERA) vs. TBD
Savannah Sand Gnats @ Augusta Green Jackets, immediately after
TBD vs. TBD
Yesterday’s doubleheader for Savannah was cancelled, and has forced them to have doubleheaders today and tomorrow. Peterson takes the hill in Game 1. He’ll be making his first start of the season. His last appearance came in relief on August 11th against Hickory. He allowed one hit, no walks, and no strikeouts in one inning pitched.
The starter for Game 2 hasn’t been decided yet.
Vermont Lake Monsters @ Brooklyn Cyclones, 6:00pm EST
Lou Trivino (2-3, 3.12 ERA) vs. Miller Diaz (4-2, 2.68 ERA)
Diaz is taking the hill for the first time since he lost on August 9th against State College. He allowed two runs on one hit, two walks, and no strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched. Prior to that, he’d thrown at least five innings in each of his last five starts. In 16 innings pitched at home in MCU Park, Diaz is holding the opposition to a .158 batting average.
Bristol White Sox @ Kingsport Mets, 6:00pm EST
Chris Freudenberg (0-2, 5.40 ERA) vs. Persio Reyes (4-3, 3.35 ERA)
Reyes put together his second straight quality start, getting his fourth win of the season on August 11th against Greeneville. He allowed two runs on five hits, three walks, and four strikeouts in six innings pitched. He appeared as a reliever once before exclusively starting for the K-Mets, and opponents are only hitting .202 off him since he was inserted into the rotation.
GCL Nationals @ GCL Mets, 10:00am EST
The Mets finish out their week against the Nationals. The probable starters haven’t been announced yet.
