As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Fresno Grizzlies @ Las Vegas 51s 10:05pm EST
TBD vs. Carlos Alvarado (4-4, 3.74 ERA)
After starting his tenure with the Mets organization with a 4-0 record and an ERA around 2.50, Alvarado has really began to struggle as we come down the home stretch. He’s lost his last four starts, and hasn’t been able to get out of the second inning in his last two. His most recent start came on August 17th against Salt Lake; he allowed four runs on four hits, three walks, and one strikeout in two innings pitched. His last two starts have seen him allow 10 runs on 10 hits, five walks, and three strikeout sin four innings of work.
Binghamton Mets @ Akron Aeros, 7:05pm EST
Mark Cohoon (9-3, 4.18 ERA) vs. Toru Murata (5-5, 3.67 ERA)
Cohoon is currently on a five-start win streak, where he’s seen himself pitch into the sixth inning each time. His last appearance came on against New Britain on August 17th. He allowed four runs on seven hits (one home run), two walk, and five strikeouts in six innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .305 off him when Cohoon pitches on the road, but he’s 4-1 with a 3.71 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched.
St. Lucie Mets @ Palm Beach Cardinals, 6:35pm EST
Angel Cuan (7-2, 3.57 ERA) vs. Marco Gonzales (0-0, 2.25 ERA)
Cuan will be making his 11th start of the season for St. Lucie, but he’s spent his last ten appearances coming out of the bullpen. Most recently, the southpaw tossed against Fort Myers on August 15th. He allowed one hit, one walk, and three strikeouts in three shutout innings of work. Over his last 10 appearances, Cuan has been spectacular; He’s compiled a 1.69 ERA while allowing only 17 hits, eight walks, and 16 strikeouts in 21.1 innings pitched.
Savannah Sand Gnats @ Kannapolis Intimidators, 7:05pm EST
Julian Hilario (7-5, 3.89 ERA) vs. Tony Bucciferro (2-4, 2.83 ERA)
Thanks to the weather in the Sally League, Hilario last took the mound almost a week ago, when he took the loss on August 15th against Rome. He allowed four runs on eight hits, one walk, and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. This will be his third straight start for Savannah, and fourth start overall this season. So far in the rotation, he’s 1-2 with a 5.65 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .293 off him.
Staten Island Yankees @ Brooklyn Cyclones, 7:00pm EST
Rookie Davis (2-4, 2.37 ERA) vs. John Gant (5-2, 2.59 ERA)
Gant is currently enjoying a personal four-game winning streak, and is looking to continue that in Brooklyn’s series finale with Staten Island. He last pitched on August 16th against Vermont, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. He’s thrown at least five innings in each of his last ten starts, getting into the sixth inning six different times. At MCU Park, Gant is 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA, and opponents are hitting .183 off him.
Kingsport Mets @ Bluefield Blue Jays, 7:05pm EST
Carlos Gomez (2-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Brady Dragmire (3-1, 2.03 ERA)
Gomez last took the mound in relief against Princeton on August 14th, allowing two runs (no earned) on three hits (one homer), no walks, and one strikeout in two innings pitched. Those were the first runs this season to cross the plate against Gomez, but since they were unearned, he still owns a 0.00 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched this season.
GCL Mets @ GCL Marlins, 12:00pm EST
The probable pitchers haven’t been announced for today’s GCL tilt.
Matt here is a suggestion for an article. The article about Bradford above reminded me of the stellar performance of the Bingo pen. How about a rundown on Walters, Kolarek, Hutchinson and Bradford along with scouting reports and projections. IMO these guys all have a chance to contribute to the ML team at some point. How/or do they fit in the future?
Thanks for your suggestion! We’ll get working on it to shed some light on a very productive relief group up in Bingo. We appreciate it!
Awesome, several truly strong suggestions! I truly appreciate you writing this post and the remainder of your internet site is fantastic!
