TBD vs. Dan Houston (0-0, 10.80 ERA)
DeGrom takes the ball in Game 1 of another doubleheader for the 51s. After carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning on August 18th, the right-hander got hit around on August 23rd against Fresno. He allowed six runs on seven hits (one homer), two walks, and four strikeouts in five innings pitched. In seven starts (40 IP) since the Triple-A All-Star break, deGrom is 2-1 with a 4.95 ERA and .290 opponent batting average.
Binghamton Mets @ Bowie Baysox, 7:05pm EST
Cohoon lost his last start against Akron on August 22nd, breaking his streak of five consecutive victories for the B-Mets. He allowed five runs (only one earned) on nine hits, no walks, and three strikeouts in five innings pitched. He’ll be trying to end August on a high note, which has also been his most effective month of the season. In four starts (24 innings pitched), he’s 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA, four walks, and 14 strikeouts.
Charlotte Stone Crabs @ St. Lucie Mets, 6:30pm EST
TBD vs. Alex Panteliodis (6-5, 4.52 ERA)
Panteliodis got hit hard for the second straight time, but took the no decision on August 23rd against Fort Myers. He allowed five runs on 10 hits (two homers), one walk, and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. It was the second time in his last three starts he didn’t make it out of the fifth inning, and he’s allowed nine runs and 19 hits over his last 12 innings of work.
Savannah Sand Gnats @ Rome Braves, 10:30am EST
Hilario took his second straight loss on August 22nd against Kannapolis, but the right-hander definitely pitched well enough to deserve a win. He allowed one run on six hits (one homer), no walks, and five strikeouts in seven innings pitched. It was his longest start of the season, and piled up the most strikeouts in a start this season. In 34 appearances, spanning 81 innings pitched, Hilario has struck out 72 and walked 24 hitters.
Tri-City Valley Cats @ Brooklyn Cyclones, 7:00pm EST
Gant ended up on the short side of things when he lost to Staten Island on August 22nd. It was actually his first loss since July 2nd, also against the Baby Bombers. He allowed two runs on six hits, two walks, and five strikeouts in five innings pitched. Despite giving up 14 hits in his last 11 innings of work, opponents are still hitting just .213 off Gant this season.
Bluefield Blue Jays @ Kingsport Mets, 7:00pm EST
Chris DeJong (2-3, 3.35 ERA) vs. Robert Whalen (3-2, 1.49 ERA)
Whalen continues to impress, and earned his third win of the season on August 22nd against Bluefield. He allowed four hits, no walks, and five strikeouts in seven shutout innings for the K-Mets. He hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last 10 starts, and he’s given up one run or less four of those times. In 66.1 innings of work, the young righty has allowed just 43 hits and 16 walks, compared to 69 strikeouts.
GCL Mets @ GCL Marlins, 12:00pm EST
