Las Vegas 51s @ Memphis Cardinals, 7:05pm EST

Matt Fox (5-3, 4.60 ERA) vs. Scott McGregor (4-7, 5.10 ERA)

PCL League Scoreboard

Fox is looking to win his third straight start tonight against Memphis. He last threw against Sacramento on July 29th, allowing one run on seven hits (one homer), one walk, and three strikeouts in five innings pitched. Fox will try to improve on his 3-3 5.66 ERA on the road. After throwing six innings in five straight starts from June 14th to July 5th, the right-hander has only pitched into the sixth once in his last four turns to the mound, and hasn’t completed six full innings of work.

Logan Verrett (9-6, 4.15 ERA) vs. Nathan Karns (7-4, 3.41 ERA)

EAS League Scoreboard

Verrett was a hard luck loser in his last start, which came against Trenton on July 28th. The right-hander allowed just one run on three hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts in five innings pitched despite coming up with the short end of the stick. He hadn’t given up three hits or less in a start since May 25th against Portland. In 19 innings since the All-Star break, Verrett is 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA, two walks and 21 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.

Clearwater Threshers @ St. Lucie Mets, 6:30pm EST

Ethan Stewart (0-4, 7.07 ERA) vs. Michael Fulmer (0-2, 4.34 ERA)

FSL League Scoreboard

Fulmer got hit with his second loss since joining St. Lucie this season, but he turned in his longest outing of 2013. He allowed just one run on seven hits, two walks, and three strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched. Talk about no run support again. He’s taking the mound in front of the home crowd at Tradition Field, where he’s held opponents to a .207 batting average in eight innings pitched.

A - sand gnats

Savannah Sand Gnats @ Greenville Drive, 7:05pm EST

Steven Matz (4-4, 2.33 ERA) vs. TBD

SAL League Scoreboard

In an effort to limit his innings, the Gnats skipped Matz’s last start, and he hasn’t pitched since July 21st against Delaware. The southpaw allowed two runs on three hits, three walks, and three strikeouts in five innings pitched while earning his fourth win of the season. Those three strikeouts is the lowest total he’s turned in since he only punched out one batter against Rome on June 8th. However, he did follow that with a 10-strikeout game.

Brooklyn Cyclones @ Jamestown Jammers, 7:05pm EST

John Gant (2-2, 2.56 ERA) vs. TBD

NYPL League Scoreboard

Gant earned his second win of the season on July 28th against Hudson Valley. It was his first time coming up on the long side of things since his season debut on June 20th. He allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. Through his seven starts in 2013, he’s lasted six innings three times, and each of those times ended up being a quality start.

Johnson City Cardinals @ Kingsport Mets, 6:00pm EST

Blake McKnight (2-0, 1.73 ERA) vs. Robert Whalen (2-1, 1.36 ERA)

APP League Scoreboard

Whalen continues to impress with the K-Mets, and enjoyed his second win of the season on July 28th against Bristol. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. He’s pitched into the sixth inning in all but one of his seven starts this season for Kingsport, and has struck out 24 hitters of his last 19.1 innings pitched, while walking only three.
