Taylor Rogers (5-5, 5.85 ERA) vs. Logan Verrett (8-4, 4.22 ERA)

EAS League Scoreboard

The last three starts for Verrett have progressively gotten worse, and he’ll try to get back on track tonight at NYSEG stadium. In hist last 17 innings pitched, the right-hander has allowed 13 runs (12 earned), 16 hits (three homers), three walks, and 17 strikeouts. Pitching at home may help Verrett put together a solid start; in 63 innings pitched in front of the home crowd, opponents are hitting .204 against him, while they’ve put together a .305 average in 39.1 innings pitched on the road.

Jesse Hernandez (5-6, 3.16 ERA) vs. Rainy Lara (2-3, 2.70 ERA)

FSL League Scoreboard

The Mets and Blue Jays weren’t able to get two games in yesterday, so they’ll try to play a doubleheader today. The first game will be a continuation of one that was started yesterday, but not completed. Michael Fulmer pitched the first three innings, and if I had to guess, I think Lara will be on the hill for the re-start. He allowed three runs on five hits, a season-high five walks, and only one strikeout in five innings pitched.

Cody Kukuk (4-7, 3.68 ERA) vs. Luis Cessa (4-2, 3.06 ERA)

SAL League Scoreboard

Cessa is looking to snap his three-start no decision streak tonight at Grayson Stadium. His last appearance came on July 6th, also against Greenville. The right-hander allowed one run on six hits, two walks, and nine strikeouts in five innings pitched. It was his shortest outing since May 19th against Augusta, when he also lasted just five innings. In 38.2 innings pitched at home, Cessa has struck out 36 hitters, while walking only five.

Brooklyn Cyclones @ Connecticut Tigers, 11:05am EST

Carlos Valdez (0-1, 3.60 ERA) vs. TBD

NYPL League Scoreboard

Valdez takes the mound following his first decision of the season, which was a loss against Lowell on July 9th. He allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits, four walks, and one strikeout in 4.2 innings pitched. It was the second time in his four 2013 starts that Valdez didn’t complete five innings while on the mound.

Martires Arias (0-4, 8.62 ERA) vs. Sam Lewis (1-1, 6.43 ERA)

APP League Scoreboard

Flexen earned his first win of 2013 against Greeneville on July 7th. The right-hander allowed one run on four hits (one homer), two walks, and two strikeouts in six innings pitched. Not only were the innings pitched in his last start a season high, it was the first time in three starts he reached the fifth inning, as well.

Arias took his fourth straight loss to open APP league action this season, but cut his season ERA in half with his best start of the year. The right-hander allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits (one homer), no walks, and three strikeouts in seven innings pitched. In 15.2 innings pitched in 2013, Arias has walked 9 batters, allowed 20 hits, and struck out seven. The opposition is hitting .308 against him so far this year.
