Fresh off his one shutout inning in the MLB Futures Game Sunday at Citi Field, Syndergaard gets back to business at NYSEG Park this afternoon for the B-Mets. He threw two shutout innings against Portland on July 11th to stay sharp for the Futures Game, but his last legit start came on July 6th against New Hampshire. He allowed three runs (no earned) on eight hits, one walk, and seven strikeouts in seven innings pitched. He’s struck out 26 hitters while walking only four in 20 Double-A innings.

Hansel Robles (3-2, 3.95 ERA) vs. Cody Scarpetta (0-3, 5.59 ERA)
Robles takes the mound for the third time since returning to St. Lucie from his injury. His first two starts have been OK, but he’s been getting hit a lot. In 8.2 innings, opponents have scored six runs on 20 hits (two homers), three walks, and eight strikeouts. In his previous seven appearances, he hadn’t allowed more than five hits in any start, and saw just four balls leave the yard for home runs.

Gabriel Ynoa (10-3, 2.68 ERA) vs. Tyler Glasnow (5-2, 2.48 ERA)
Following his first loss since April, Ynoa got himself back on track against Augusta on July 9th. He allowed six hits, one walk, and struck out five in 6.2 shutout innings of work for his 10th victory of the season. The right-hander currently ranks eighth in the SAL in ERA, third in WHIP with a 0.97 mark, and first in wins.

Dace Kime (0-0, 2.25 ERA) vs. Seth Lugo (1-2, 5.82 ERA)

He allowed two runs on three hits, two walks, and one strikeout in three innings pitched. His start was interrupted by the rain, and was finished the next day as part of a doubleheader in upstate New York.

The right-hander allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits (one homer), no walks, and three strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Whalen will be trying to break into the win column for the first time this season, while also snapping his three-start no decision streak. Against Greeneville on July 9th, the young right-hander allowed one run (no earned) on three hits, two walks, and six strikeouts in six innings pitched. It was the third time in four starts he’s pitched into the sixth inning for Kingsport.
