As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Las Vegas 51s @ Reno Aces, 10:05pm EST
Matt Fox (3-3, 4.75 ERA) vs. TBD
Fox got hit hard against Salt Lake on July 10th after putting together two straight shutout performances. He allowed six runs on eight hits, two walks, and four strikeouts, lasting just 4.2 innings pitched. He’ll be making his ninth start on the road since joining the Mets organization, looking to improve on the 3-3 record and 5.48 ERA he’s put up so far. In 42.2 road innings pitched, the right-hander has allowed 46 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 30.
Binghamton Mets @ New Britain Rock Cats, 7:05pm EST
Darin Gorski (3-0, 2.36 ERA) vs. TBD
Gorski won his third straight decision with the B-Mets on July 13th at home against Portland. He allowed two runs on three hits, three walks, and six strikeouts in six innings pitched. It was the second straight start he struck out at least six hitters, and has improved his K/BB ratio to 3.2:1. He started the season in Las Vegas, pitching to a 6.59 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched prior to getting injured. He’s found his groove since returning to the mound, as opponents in the Eastern League are only hitting .170 off Gorski.
Brevard County Manatees @ St. Lucie Mets, 6:30pm EST
Jed Bradley (4-3, 4.30 ERA) vs. Alex Panteliodis (4-3, 4.11 ERA)
Panteliodis is riding a personal two-game winning streak, and his most recent start on July 12th against Dunedin was the more impressive appearance. He shut them out over 7.1 innings pitched, allowing six hits, no walks, and three strikeouts. It was the first time he’s lasted into the eighth inning in his last ten starts. After a tough month of June (0-2, 7.09 ERA in five starts), Panteliodis has gotten July off on the right foot, compiling a 2-0 record and 2.19 ERA in two starts.
Savannah Sand Gnats @ West Virginia Power, 7:05pm EST
Matt Koch (5-4, 4.54 ERA) vs. John Kuchno (4-4, 4.65 ERA)
Koch struggled through his worst start of the season on July 10th against Augusta, but he also didn’t get much help from the defense behind him. He allowed seven runs (three earned) on six hits, no walks, and no strikeouts in just 1.2 innings pitched. The opposition hit .500 against him during that appearance. Despite that tough start, Koch is still 4-3 with a 3.94 ERA in 61.2 innings pitched as a member of the starting rotation.
Mahoning Valley Scrappers @ Brooklyn Cyclones, 7:00pm EST
TBD vs. Robert Gsellman (0-1, 1.98 ERA)
Gsellman will be looking to break through into the win column tonight, as he’s currently on a four-start no decision streak. His last start came on July 12th against Auburn; he allowed three runs on seven hits, one walk, and six strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. Left-handed hitters have been giving him more of a problem in the NYPL, posting a .292 opponent batting average, compared to a .230 mark from right-handers.
Danville Braves @ Kingsport Mets, 7:00pm EST
TBD vs. Persio Reyes (1-1, 6.23 ERA)
The K-Mets only have one game scheduled for tonight, which is quite the change compared to the last two days. Reyes takes the mound, fresh off his first win of 2013, which came against Burlington on July 14th. He allowed two runs on five hits (one homer), one walk, and two strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched. He threw three shutout innings of relief in his season debut, but has since taken on a role in the Kingsport starting rotation.
GCL Mets @ GCL Nationals, 12:00pm EST
The GCL action continues in Florida as the Mets take on the Nationals. The probable starters haven’t been announced.
