As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Reno Aces @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST
Nate Adcock (2-0, 7.24 ERA) vs. Matt Fox (3-3, 4.93 ERA)
Fox earned a no decision in his first start back from the Triple-A All-Star break, but got hit pretty good. He allowed four runs on 10 hits (one homer), two walks, and three strikeouts in five innings pitched. After throwing at least six innings in seven of his last eight starts, Fox hasn’t been able to make it past the fifth in his most recent two appearances.
Reading Fightin’ Phils @ Binghamton Mets, 6:35pm EST
David Buchanan (6-9, 4.37 ERA) vs. Mark Cohoon (4-3, 4.83 ERA)
Cohoon earned his third straight no decision on July 18th against New Britain, but turned in his best start since that eight-inning performance against the Rock Cats back on May 23rd. The right-hander allowed three runs on eight hits (one homer), no walks, and five strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched. He’s continuing to try and solve the mystery of facing right-handed hitters. In 54.1 innings pitched against them this season, they’re hitting .340 off him.
St. Lucie Mets @ Daytona Cubs, 12:05 ET
Hansel Robles (4-2, 4.04 ERA) vs. TBD
Robles made some progress in his last start, getting his first FSL win since May on July 17th. The right-hander allowed three runs on seven hits, no walks, and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. It was the longest he’s lasted in a game for St. Lucie since he threw six innings against Charlotte all the way back on April 21st. In 72.2 innings pitched for the Cyclones last season, Robles struck out 66 hitters, while walking 10. In 49 innings pitched this year, he’s struck out 44 and walked 16.
OFF
The Gnats have today off as they head back to Savannah to take on the Augusta Green Jackets tomorrow.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Lowell Spinners, 11:05am EST
Dario Alvarez (1-2, 5.40 ERA) vs. TBD
Alvarez got hit with his second loss of the season on July 18th against Mahoning Valley. The southpaw allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits, two walks, and three strikeouts in five innings pitched. After not being able to complete five innings in his first three starts, Alvarez has been able to do so in his last two. In 9.1 road innings pitched, he owns a 3.86 ERA and .225 opponent batting average.
Elizabethton Twins @ Kingsport Mets 7:00pm EST
Josh Burris (0-1, 5.21 ERA) vs. Martires Arias (0-4, 9.15 ERA)
Arias followed his best start of the year with a lackluster one, but he at least didn’t take another loss. He allowed five runs on seven hits, no walks, and five strikeouts in four innings pitched on July 18th against Danville. It was the second straight start he hasn’t allowed a walk, and has now gone 11 straight innings without allowing any free passes. He’ll be trying to get off the snide this season at home, where he’s currently 0-3 with a 7.47 ERA and .303 opponent batting average in 15.2 innings pitched.
