As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Reno Aces @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST
Michael Bolsinger (4-3, 3.65 ERA) vs. Rafael Montero (1-2, 4.50 ERA)
Like his fellow MLB Futures Game starter, Montero had an underwhelming start in his return to the 51s rotation. He last took the mound against Reno on July 20th, allowing four runs (three earned), seven hits, three walks, and four strikeouts in five innings pitched. In 15.1 innings pitched at Cashman Field, Montero has struck out 14 hitters, walked five, owns a 5.28 ERA and a .313 opposition batting average.
Trenton Thunder @ Binghamton Mets, 6:35pm EST
Nik Turley (7-5, 4.50 ERA) vs. Darin Gorski (3-0, 2.63 ERA)
Gorski’s last start only lasted 0.2 innings, and he allowed one run on one hit, three walks, and one strikeout. It’s his second straight start of walking at least three hitters in an appearance. In six starts for the B-Mets this season (22.1 innings pitched), Gorski is 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA, and .154 opponent batting average.
St. Lucie Mets @ Lakeland Flying Tigers, 6;30pm EST
Hansel Robles (4-2, 4.04 ERA) vs. Wilsen Palacios (5-6, 3.54 ERA)
Robles made some progress in his last start, getting his first FSL win since May on July 17th. The right-hander allowed three runs on seven hits, no walks, and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. It was the longest he’s lasted in a game for St. Lucie since he threw six innings against Charlotte all the way back on April 21st. In 72.2 innings pitched for the Cyclones last season, Robles struck out 66 hitters, while walking 10. In 49 innings pitched this year, he’s struck out 44 and walked 16.
Augusta Green Jackets @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 7:05pm EST
TBD vs. Gabriel Ynoa (10-4, 2.82 ERA)
Ynoa dropped a game for the second time in his last three starts on July 17th against West Virginia. He allowed six runs (three earned) on 10 hits, one walk, and eight strikeouts in five innings pitched. The 10 hits are the most he’s given up in his last 10 starts, but those eight punch outs were also the most he’s experienced during that same span of time. Six of his 10 wins this season have come at Grayson Stadium, where he owns a 1.99 ERA.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Lowell Spinners, 7:05pm EST
Robert Gsellman (0-2, 2.10 ERA) vs. TBD
Gsellman was the hard luck loser in his last start, despite going the deepest he has in a game since June 30th. His last start came on July 19th against Mahoning Valley; the right-hander allowed two runs on four hits, one walk, and five strikeouts in seven innings pitched. In 72.1 combined innings between Brooklyn, St. Lucie, and Savannah, Gsellman has struck out 47 hitters, walked 16, and owns a 2.86 ERA.
Elizabethton Twins @ Kingsport Mets 7:00pm EST
Yorman Landa (3-0, 1.08 ERA) vs. Yoan Gonzalez (1-3, 6.19 ERA)
The Cuban lefty takes the hill for his fourth start tonight, coming off his third loss of the year on July 19th against Danville. Gonzalez allowed six runs on six hits (one homer), one walk, and two strikeouts in three innings pitched. He’ll try to get himself off the snide in front of the home crowd; in seven innings pitched at Kingsport (two starts), he’s allowed nine hits, four walks, and four strikeouts, equaling a 10.29 ERA.
GCL Mets @ GCL Marlins, 12:00pm EST
The Mets are playing their third straight game against the Marlins today. The probable starters haven’t been announced yet.
