As of 9:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Fresno Grizzlies @ Las Vegas 51s 10:05pm EST
Justin Fitzgerald (0-0, 5.59 ERA) vs. Chris Schwinden (3-8, 6.05 ERA)
Schwinden earned his second straight loss on June 27th against Tacoma, but it was the first time all month he allowed fewer than four earned runs in a start. He allowed two runs on seven hits (one homer), one walk, and seven strikeouts in seven innings pitched. It was also the first time this season the right-hander completed seven innings of work. I’m sure he’s happy to turn the page to July, as June was his worst month of the season. Schwinden went 0-3 with a 6.83 ERA in 27.2 innings pitched. He allowed 40 hits and six walks, while striking out 17.
Altoona Curve @ Binghamton Mets, 5:05pm EST, resumed from 7/1
Jameson Taillon (3-5, 2.90 ERA) vs. Darin Gorski (1-0, 2.00 ERA)
The rain once again prevented the B-Mets from getting on the field. Instead of playing two games, as originally planned, they will only look to complete the suspended game from last night. Gorski is scheduled to get on the mound today. The weather has fooled with the B-Mets rotation, and the last time Gorski got on a mound was June 19th in Richmond. He allowed one run on three hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts in five innings pitched.
OFF
St. Lucie is off today after getting rained out yesterday in Fort Myers. They’ll be facing the Hammerheads in Jupiter, starting tomorrow night.
Hickory Crawdads @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 7:05pm EST
TBD vs. Gabriel Ynoa (9-2, 2.68 ERA)
Ynoa looks to continue his spectacular season tonight against Hickory. He won his second straight start in his last appearance, which came on June 26th against Augusta. He allowed one run on five hits, no walks, and four strikeouts in six innings pitched. He’s especially stingy in front of the home crowd at Grayson Stadium. This will be his seventh start at home, and he’s currently 5-0 with a 1.73 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched. He’s allowed 23 hits, four walks, and 36 strikeouts during that time. Opponents are hitting .174 off Ynoa in Savannah.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Staten Island Yankees 7:00pm EST
John Gant (1-1, 2.45 ERA) vs. TBD
One of the two games the ‘Clones were supposed to play last night was rained out, so Gant will try to head to the hill tonight. He’s coming off a 10-strikeout performance against Aberdeen. He did get his first loss of the season; the right-hander allowed three runs on six hits, no walks, and those 10 punch outs in six innings pitched.
OFF
The K-Mets have today off, as they prepare to take on Greeneville tomorrow night in Kingsport.
GCL Marlins @ GCL Mets, 11:00am EST (completion of suspended 6/26 game)
GCL Mets @ GCL Marlins, immediately after
TBD vs. TBD
The Mets and Marlins will once again try to get two games in today. The starters haven’t been announced yet, but when they do, I’ll update this post.
