Luis Cessa (5-3, 3.33 ERA) vs. Matt Carasiti (2-5, 8.41 ERA)

SAL League Scoreboard

Cessa’s last start against Delaware on July 23rd was the hardest he’s gotten hit in an appearance since allowing six runs on 11 hits on May 19th. This time around, he allowed five runs on 13 hits, one walk, and four strikeouts in five innings pitched, while getting the loss. However, he has put together seven quality starts in his last 10 appearances. He’ll be trying to improve on his 1-2 record and 4.18 ERA on the road tonight.

Seth Lugo (2-3, 4.60 ERA) vs. Drew Anderson (3-2, 2.83 ERA)

NYPL League Scoreboard

Lugo takes the hill tonight with hopes of helping Brooklyn extend their winning streak to six games. Lugo lost his last start on July 23rd against Lowell, but it was his most complete start of the season. He allowed two runs on five hits, one walk, and four strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Minimizing the walks was crucial for him to get deeper into the game; it was the first time this season he’s lasted more than five innings in a start, and this past appearance was the first time he walked less than two batters in a game since his 2013 debut.

He allowed one run on four hits (one homer), no walks, and seven strikeouts in a nine-inning complete game effort.
