Fresno Grizzlies @ Las Vegas 51s 10:05pm EST

Yusmeiro Petit (2-3, 7.08 ERA) vs. Giancarlo Alvarado (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

PCL League Scoreboard

Alvarado was impressive in his organizational debut for the Mets on June 28th. As the newest member of the 51s starting rotation, he shut out Tacoma over six innings pitched, allowing six hits and two walks, while striking out seven. Prior to joining the Mets organization, Alvarado was 0-2 with a 4.03 ERA in the Mexican League.

David Bromberg (3-8, 3.29 ERA) vs. Cory Mazzoni (4-2, 4.04 ERA)

Mazzoni earned his second straight win in his last start on June 28th against Trenton. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts in six innings pitched. In his last 24.2 innings pitched, Mazzoni has tallied 35 strikeouts. That’s compared to 29 punch outs in his previous 31 innings pitched.

St. Lucie Mets @ Jupiter Hammerheads, 6:05pm EST

Domingo Tapia (2-4, 4.19 ERA) vs. Jose Urena (8-3, 3.40 ERA)

Tapia should be taking the hill tonight for St. Lucie, as they kick off their series in Jupiter against the Hammerheads. He earned his fifth straight no decision in his last start against Palm Beach on June 26th. The right-hander allowed three runs on six hits, three walks, and six strikeouts in five innings pitched. He’s walked 10 in his last 14.1 innings pitched, and will try to improve on his 0-2 record and 5.73 ERA on the road. In 22 innings away from Tradition Field, Tapia has struck out 21 hitters, walked 15, and has surrendered an opponent batting average of .307.

Hickory Crawdads @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 6:05pm EST

TBD vs. Marcos Camarena (2-0, 1.93 ERA)

Camarena started three games in six total appearances earlier this season for St. Lucie, but will be making his first start for Savannah after seven relief appearances. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last two appearances, which spans five innings. He’s tallied a total of 18.2 innings pitched for the Sand Gnats, allowing 15 hits, two walks, and striking out eight.

The Cyclones have lost four in a row, and will turn to Valdez to try and salvage the series finale of this four-game set. His last start came on June 27th against Aberdeen. The right-hander allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, two walks, and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. He’s allowed 14 hits in 9.1 innings pitched this season, good for a .350 opponent batting average.

Whalen takes the hill tonight and will be facing Greeneville for the second straight start. The first time around, he earned the no decision on June 26th, but pitched well enough to win. He allowed one run on four hits (one homer), no walks, and eight strikeouts in six innings pitched. In 11.1 innings pitched this season, Whalen has walked only one, while striking out 14.
