las-vegas-51s

Colorado Springs Sky Sox @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST

TBD vs. Matt Fox (1-2, 6.23 ERA)

PCL League Scoreboard

Fox turned in his worst start with Vegas this season on June 8th against Tacoma. In four innings of work (a season-low), the righty allowed a season-high eight runs and eight hits, along with three walks and two strikeouts. It was the first time he’d allowed a free pass to an opposing batter since his second start with the 51s, which came on May 23rd against the Iowa Cubs. Four of his five starts this season have come on the road, and that’s where he’s experienced the most trouble. In 20 innings pitched, Fox has allowed 24 hits and 16 earned runs, good for a 7.20 ERA. He’ll be taking the hill at Cashman Field tonight, where he allowed two runs in six innings against Reno on May 28th.

Bowie Baysox @ Binghamton Mets, 7:05pm EST

TBD vs. Cory Mazzoni (2-1, 4.06 ERA)

EAS League Scoreboard

Mother Nature prevented Mazzoni from taking the hill in the series finale against Trenton, so he’ll give it a try again at home against the Baysox. On June 6th, the right-hander threw 6.2 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits, three walks, and 11 strikeouts against the Thunder. Mazzoni has struck out 20 hitters in his last two starts, spanning 12.2 innings. That’s the most strikeouts he’s had in a two-start span all season. He’s definitely looking forward to pitching at home; opponents are only hitting .226 in 23.1 innings at NYSEG Park, while it’s a .344 mark on the road.

St. Lucie is enjoying their mid-season break, with the FSL All-Star set to take place tomorrow night in Dunedin. They return to action Monday night at Tradition Field against the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

A - sand gnats

Greenville Drive @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 7:05pm EST

TBD vs. Luis Cessa (3-2, 3.32 ERA)

SAL League Scoreboard

Cessa will attempt to complete his first half in Savannah with his fourth straight quality start. Since allowing six runs on 11 hits to Augusta, he’s been magnificent. In his last 20.1 innings pitched, Cessa has allowed one run on 16 hits, two walks, and 23 strikeouts. Despite opposing batters hitting .294 against the right-hander while pitching in front of the home crowd at Grayson Stadium, he’s compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.52 ERA. Strangely enough, he’s been a lot tougher on lefties this season (.188 opponent BA) than righties (.305 opponent BA).
