Colorado Springs Sky Sox @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST
Parker Frazier (0-0, 10.50 ERA vs. Rafael Montero (0-1, 2.70 ERA)
The 51s official site has tonight’s starter listed as “to be determined,” but the Sky Sox website said Montero will be getting his second Triple-A start of the season. He went 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits, one walk, and five strikeouts against the Iowa Cubs, but has been tearing up Double-A since he was transferred back to Binghamton. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 20 innings pitched (three starts) while giving up only 11 hits, four walks, and 18 strikeouts.
Bowie Baysox @ Binghamton Mets, 7:05pm EST
Jake Pettit (3-2, 4.58 ERA) vs. Logan Verrett (7-2, 3.79 ERA)
With Rafael Montero leaving town for Triple-A, that leaves Verrett as the most successful pitcher for the B-Mets this season. He gave up a season-high eight runs and 11 hits (two home runs) on May 31st against New Hampshire, but turned it around against Altoona to start June off right. He allowed two runs in six innings of work on nine hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Verrett seems more comfortable pitching at NYSEG Park; opponents are hitting .303 against him on the road in six starts, but .197 in six home starts.
St. Lucie is enjoying their mid-season break. The FSL All-Star game is taking place tonight in Dunedin. They return to action Monday night at Tradition Field against the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
Greenville Drive @ Savannah Sand Gnats,
Justin Haley (3-6, 4.53 ERA) vs. Luis Cessa (3-2, 3.22 ERA)
With their third first half championship in four years already clinched, Savannah sends Cessa to the mound to end things on a high note. He received a no-decision on June 9th against Rome, but it wasn’t because of his performance. Cessa threw six shutout innings, allowing seven hits, no walks, and six strikeouts. In fact, he hasn’t given up a run in his last 13.2 innings pitched. He’s struck out 56 hitters, while walking eight in 59.2 innings pitched in 2013.
