Las Vegas 51s @ Tucson Padres, 10:05pm EST
Chris Schwinden (3-6, 6.18 ERA) vs. Robbie Erlin (5-2, 5.50 ERA)
Schwinden continues to get hit hard when he takes the mound, with the latest appearance coming on June 16th against Colorado Springs. He allowed five runs on nine hits (two home runs), one walk, and three strikeouts. He was able to escape from this start without earning his second consecutive loss. Over his past three starts (15.2 innings pitched) Schwinden has allowed 15 runs (14 earned) on 24 hits, four walks, and five strikeouts. All that has happened after his most complete start of the season against Reno on May 30th. He scattered 10 hits and allowed only one run in six innings pitched, earning his third win of the season.
Erie SeaWolves @ Binghamton Mets, 7:05pm EST
Kyle Lobstein (6-4, 3.19 ERA) vs. Logan Verrett (8-2, 3.80 ERA)
After giving up a season-high eight runs and 11 hits on May 31st against New Hampshire, Verrett has won two straight starts. Against Altoona and Bowie, he’s allowed five runs in 13 innings, giving up 14 hits. The one thing that has increased over his last two appearances is the number of walks allowed. He given up five free passes against nine strikeouts. In his first 11 starts, he gave up more than one walk in a game twice, and has now done so each of his last two.
St. Lucie Mets @ Palm Beach Cardinals, 6:35pm EST
Angel Cuan (6-1, 3.74 ERA) vs. Zach Petrick (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
Cuan last appeared in a game on June 13th against Clearwater, earning his sixth win of the year in four innings of relief. He allowed two runs on three hits, no walks, and four strikeouts. After being named the FSL Pitcher of the Week toward the end of May thanks to throwing consecutive seven-inning shutout performance, Cuan hasn’t pitched past five innings in either of his last two starts.
Savannah Sand Gnats @ Lexington Legends, 7:05pm EST
Matt Koch (5-2, 4.56 ERA) vs. Daniel Stumpf (4-5, 3.43 ERA)
Koch takes the mound for the first time since his best start of the season on June 12th against Asheville. The right-hander went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, no walks, and a season-high 11 strikeouts. His transition from the bullpen at the start of the season to the rotation has been a successful one thus far. In eight starts this season, Koch is 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA in 41.2 innings pitched. He’s racked up 43 strikeouts during that time, against only one walk.
Aberdeen Ironbirds @ Brooklyn Cyclones, 7:00pm EST
Stephen Brault (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Carlos Valdez (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
Valdez will be making his Cyclones debut tonight at MCU Park. He most recently played for the Kingsport Mets. In 7.2 innings with the K-Mets, he went 0-1 with a 1.17 ERA, seven strikeouts, and six walks. Prior to that, he spent time with the DSL Mets in 2011, but only racked up 31.2 innings pitched there, as well. It will be interesting to see how he does at the next level without a whole lot of experience in Rookie Ball.
Johnson City Cardinals @ Kingsport Mets, 7:00pm EST
TBD vs. TBD
Once again, the starters for tonight’s game in Kingsport haven’t been announced yet. Once I hear, I’ll update this post.
GCL Mets @ GCL Nationals, 12:00pm EST
Hansel Robles (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Wander Suero (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
The GCL Mets get their season started off against the Nats today. Robles begins his rehab and starts the game on the hill. This is an exciting roster to watch out for, as 2013 draft picks Dominic Smith, Ivan Wilson, and Andrew Church are on it. The outfield could also be exciting, with Vicente Lupo and Wuilmer Becerra there as well. Here is the full roster.
When does GCL start?
They actually get underway today. No news on who the starters are, but will update this post in a minute…
Should be all set now. My apologies!
