As of 12:30pm EST this afternoon, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Salt Lake Bees @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST
Jarrett Grube (2-2, 4.20 ERA) vs. Matt Fox (2-2, 5.68 ERA)
Fox takes the hill tonight after collecting his second win of the season on June 19th against Tucson. He allowed four runs on six hits (two home runs) in six innings pitched, while walking one and striking out four. It wasn’t the most dominant start, but it was enough to get the job done. He’ll be making his third start of the year at Cashman Field, and is looking for his first decision there in 2013. Opposing batters have collected 15 hits in 12 innings pitched against him, good for a .341 average.
Binghamton Mets @ Portland SeaDogs, 7:00pm EST
Erik Goeddel (6-2, 4.09 ERA) vs. Anthony Ranaudo (7-1, 2.34 ERA)
Goeddel has the task of taking the mound today following the ninth straight series victory for the B-Mets. The product of UCLA didn’t get a decision on June 19th, but allowed one run on four hits in five innings pitched, walking one and striking out six. It was actually Goeddel’s shortest outing since he allowed four runs on six hits in five innings pitched in a win against on May 10th. He’ll look to capitalize against the opposition on the road. Goeddel will be trying to get his fifth win of the season in nine road starts.
Bradenton Mauraders @ St. Lucie Mets 6:30pm EST
Zack Dodson (1-5, 5.32 ERA) vs. Alex Panteliodis (2-2, 3.09 ERA)
Panteliodis earned his second-straight no decision on June 18th against Charlotte. The left-hander allowed two runs on seven hits, two walks, and two strikeouts in five innings pitched. He’ll be trying to improve upon his 1-2 record and 3.27 ERA at night. The opposition owns a .290 batting average when the stadium lights are on, compared to .162 mark during the day.
Savannah Sand Gnats @ Augusta GreenJackets, 7:05pm EST
Jake Kuebler (2-2, 2.50 ERA) vs. TBD
Kuebler takes the mound for the first time since getting his second straight win of 2013 on June 13th against Greenville. He stifled the offense by allowing only two hits in five shutout innings, walking none and striking out two. His last two starts have been his longest of the year, going five innings in each. Over those 10 innings pitched, he’s allowed one run on four hits, one walk, and six strikeouts. In four starts since switching from the bullpen, Kuebler is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA.
Brooklyn Cyclones @ Hudson Valley Renegades, 7:00pm EST
Robert Gsellman (0-1, 0.00 ERA) vs. John Farrell (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
Gsellman got the loss against the Staten Island Yankees in the 2013 NYPL opener, but it wasn’t because of the way he pitched on June 17th. The right-hander went five innings and allowed two unearned runs on five hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. In 43 total innings (eight starts) between three different levels of the minors, Gsellman is 3-4 with a 3.14 ERA. He’s allowed 45 hits on 12 walks, and 23 strikeouts.
Kingsport Mets @ Bristol White Sox, 7:00pm EST
TBD vs. Robin Leyer (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
The probable starter for the K-Mets hasn’t been announced yet. Once I hear who is starting, I will update this post.
GCL Cardinals @ GCL Mets, 12:00pm EST
TBD vs. Lenny Rosario (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
After spending three seasons in the Dominican Summer League, Rosario makes his debut in the states for the GCL Mets. The 22-year-old has shown he can be dominant at times. In 127 career innings pitched, he’s struck out 144 batters, while only allowing 77 hits. However, he’s also allowed 127 walks in that time. He’ll try to harness his control in Rookie Ball, something that has obviously escaped him through his first three years as a professional.
