Las Vegas 51s @ Fresno Grizzles, 5:05pm EST

Matt Fox (1-1, 4.50 ERA) vs. Austin Fleet (0-1, 3.00 ERA)

Fox turned in what could be considered his best overall start for the 51s since starting the season in the Atlantic League with the York Revolution. He went a season-high six innings, allowed two runs on seven hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. In 16 innings pitched for Las Vegas in 2013, Fox has given up 20 hits, including four home runs. Opponents are hitting .313 off him, but that’s mostly because right-handed batters are hitting at a .375 clip off Fox.

Binghamton Mets @ New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 1:35pm EST

Jacob deGrom (1-5, 5.29 ERA) vs. Sean Nolin (2-0, 1.77 ERA)

deGrom earned a no decision in his last start against Portland. The Florida-native went six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits, two walks, and nine strikeouts. That K-total was good enough for a season-high, and it was the sixth time in eight starts he’s pitched into the sixth inning. Pitching away from NYSEG Park has been an issue for deGrom, as he currently sports an 0-3 record with an 8.03 ERA on the road. Opponents are hitting .367 off him, but the biggest difference is that he has 30 strikeouts compared to six walks at home, but seven strikeouts compared to 10 walks on the road.

Game 1: St. Lucie Mets @ Charlotte Stone Crabs, 5:30pm EST

Angel Cuan (5-1, 3.69 ERA) vs. Jacob Partridge (0-3, 6.85 ERA)

After getting named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week, Cuan is making his first start as a 24-year-old tonight against the Stone Crabs. He threw seven shutout innings against Bradenton, allowing a season-low two hits, no walks, and nine strikeouts. It was the second time he didn’t walk a batter in a game he started, and his nine punch outs are a season-high. He’s been dominant on the road this season; in three appearances (two starts), Cuan is 3-0 with a 1.15 ERA, three walks, and 14 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched.

Game 2: St. Lucie Mets @ Charlotte Stone Grabs, immediately following Game 1

Matthew Bowman (3-0, 2.33 ERA) vs. Jesse Hahn (0-0, 0.84 ERA)

Bowman looks to continue his good fortune in 2013 as he takes the mound in the second game of today’s doubleheader for St. Lucie. In a win against Bradenton on May 26th, the righty went seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits, one walk, and six strikeouts. He’s thrown at least seven innings in each of his last three strats, which have also included only three walks, against 26 strikeouts.

TBD vs. Kyle Hansen (1-1, 5.73 ERA)

The official starter for tonight’s ballgame hasn’t been announced, yet. Steven Matz (2-2, 3.10 ERA) was scheduled to be the probable starter, but he landed on the disabled list earlier this week with a blister.
