Randall Delgado (1-4, 7.43 ERA) vs. Matt Fox (1-1, 5.40 ERA)

Fox’s stat line against the Iowa Cubs was similar to his 51s debut against Omaha. Instead of getting the win, the right-hander was handed his first PCL loss of the season. In five innings pitched, he allowed three runs on seven hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. He’ll try to get into the sixth inning for the first time with Vegas. In order to do so, he’ll have to get better at retiring right-handed hitters, who are hitting .375 off him this season. Also, opposing batters are hitting .300 against Fox when he’s ahead in the count. If Fox is going to be successful, that’s something that will need to change..

Casey Sadler (5-3, 2.81 ERA) vs. Erik Goeddel (4-2, 5.05 ERA)

Goeddel has won his last three decisions and is currently riding a six-start unbeaten streak.  In his last appearance against the New Britain Rock Cats, the right-hander went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. This will be his fifth and final start of May, and he’s hoping to finish it undefeated. He’s 3-0 with a 4.37 ERA in 22.2 innings pitched.Through 46.1 innings pitched this season, Goeddel has struck out 45 hitters, but will need to cut down on his walks. He’s allowed 20 in 2013, and has walked at least three hitters in four of his last five starts.

Anthony DeSclafani (4-1, 1.32 ERA) vs. Noah Syndergaard (2-2, 2.86 ERA)

Syndergaard is coming off his second loss of the season, coming up short against the Dunedin Blue Jays, his former organization. The top-10 prospect went 5.2 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts. After opening the season with outings of four innings, five innings, and three innings, Syndergaard has pitched into the sixth inning six consecutive times. Interestingly enough, this is his 10th start of the season, but only his third in front of the home fans. He’s 1-0, but will try to lower his 7.20 ERA at Tradition Field.

Steven Matz (2-2, 2.86 ERA) vs TBD

Matz takes the mound tonight and will try to break a personal two-game losing streak. In his last start against Charleston, he threw six innings and allowed on two runs on five hits, one walk, and nine strikeouts. That’s a pretty good line despite getting the loss. The southpaw will try his best to handle left-handed hitters better tonight, who are hitting .333 off of him so far this season. He will make his fourth start of the season away from Historic Grayson Stadium, and attempts to improve upon his current 1-1 record and 4.05 ERA.
