Reno Aces @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST

Charles Brewer (3-4, 4.97 ERA) vs. D.J. Mitchell (1-1, 7.98 ERA)

Mitchell looks to continue the hot streak for Las Vegas, but to do so, he’ll have to get himself back on track. He lasted 2.2 innings in his last start against Salt Lake, his shortest outing of the season. The right-hander allowed four runs on five hits, one walk, and didn’t strike anyone out. One of the things he’ll need to get under control is the amount of walks he’s allowing. He’s given out 15 free passes in 25.1 innings pitched with the 51’s. He’s walked at least three hitters in a start four out of six times. In seven innings pitched at Cashman Field, Mitchel has allowed 10 runs on 12 hits, good for a .400 opponent batting average.

Binghamton Mets @ New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7:05pm EST

Logan Verrett (6-1, 3.07 ERA) vs. Deck McGuire (2-5, 5.17 ERA)

Verrett continues his solid season in Double-A with yet another great performance in his last start. He didn’t get the decision, but it wasn’t because he didn’t pitch well. In his last two starts, Verrett has thrown 13 innings and allowed five runs (four earned), 12 hits, no walks, and 19 strikeouts. This is the first time in 2013 he hasn’t walked anyone in two consecutive starts. The right-hander has been a model of consistency through 2013, throwing less than six innings in a start only once in his first 10 starts. Verrett is making his fifth start away from NYSEG park and will try to stay perfect on the road (4-0 record, 2.86 ERA).

St. Lucie Mets @ Charlotte Stone Crabs, 6:30pm EST

Domingo Tapia (1-4, 3.86 ERA) vs. Parker Markel (2-4, 6.96 ERA)

Tapia made his return to the mound on May 24th for the first time since May 5th, and hopes to have a better outing than his last one against Bradenton. The righty only lasted 0.1 innings and allowed six runs on two hits and four walks. While Tapia has pitched into the sixth inning five times out of his eight starts this season, the other three appearances haven’t lasted more than an inning. In those three shortened starts, he’s thrown two innings, allowed 10 runs on three hits, nine walks, and two strikeouts.

Savannah Sand Gnats @ Kannapolis Intimidators, 7:05pm EST

Jake Kuebler (0-2, 2.81 ERA) vs. Euclides Leyer (2-5, 5.01 ERA)

Kuebler made his first start of the season his last time out after appearing in eight games as a reliever. The four innings he pitched against Augusta matched a season high. He didn’t allow a run on two hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. He will try to continue providing some more length by increasing his pitch count tonight in Kannapolis. Kuebler’s two losses in 2013 have both come on the road, as he will try to lower his 4.63 ERA and .292 opponent batting average away from Grayson Stadium.
