Las Vegas 51s @ Salt Lake Bees, 8:35pm EST

Matt Fox (8-4, 4.59 ERA) vs. Matt Shoemaker (1-13, 4.64 ERA)

PCL League Scoreboard

Fox kicks off the playoffs for the 51s by taking the hill in Salt Lake tonight. The right-hander last took the mound on August 29th against Colorado, and put together a solid start, winning his third straight decision. He allowed three runs on six hits, one walk, and ten strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched. He finished the season by piling up 111.2 innings of work, allowing 133 hits and 27 walks against 76 strikeouts.

Noah Syndergaard (6-1, 3.00 ERA) vs. Bryan Mitchell (0-0, 1.93 ERA)

Syndergaard takes the ball to get the Eastern League playoffs started for the B-Mets. He hasn’t pitched since August 26th against Bowie, which was his worst start of the season. He allowed 11 runs (nine earned) on nine hits (three home runs), two walks, and five strikeouts in three innings pitched. It was the first time he didn’t throw at least five innings in a start since July 11th, which was his tuneup before the MLB Futures Game. That was a span of six starts.

Gabriel Ynoa (15-4, 2.72 ERA) vs. TBD

SAL League Scoreboard

The SAL pitcher of the year leads the first half champion Sand Gnats against the second half champion Green Jackets in Augusta tonight. Ynoa last pitched on August 29th against Rome, tallying his league-leading 15th win of the season. He allowed two runs on six hits, two walks, and one strikeout in six innings pitched. He’s won his last five decisions, and is 7-3 with a 3.15 ERA in 74.1 innings of work on the road as a visiting pitcher.

The Cyclones finish their season against Tri-Valley tonight. They’re on a season-high five-game losing streak, and will try to end 2013 with a victory. The probable starters haven’t been announced yet.
