Rafael Montero (5-4, 3.05 ERA) vs. Tommy Hanson (0-2, 5.49 ERA)
Montero takes the mound for Game 2 of the series between Las Vegas and Salt Lake. The right-hander will try to even up the series for the 51s after a late-inning loss last night. He finished his regular season on a high note on August 30th against Tucson, allowing three hits, one walk, and eight strikeouts in 6.1 shutout innings. In 41.2 innings of work away from Cashman Field, Montero is 2-2 with a 3.24 ERA, .278 opponent batting average, 13 walks, and 33 strikeouts.
Binghamton Mets @ Trenton Thunder, 7:05pm EST
Darin Gorski (6-1, 1.83 ERA) vs. Mikey O’Brien (7-8, 4.12 ERA)
The B-Mets also lost a heartbreaker last night, but their loss came in extra innings. They send Gorski to the mound in an effort to even the series. He last threw on August 30th against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, allowing two hits, no walks, and five strikeouts in seven shutout innings. The left-hander has thrown seven straight quality starts, and has gone at least six innings pitched and allowed three earned runs or less in eight of his last 10 starts.
Augusta Green Jackets @ Savannah Sand Gnats, Friday 7:05pm EST
Kendry Flores (10-6, 2.73 ERA) vs. Steven Matz (5-6, 2.62 ERA)
The Sand Gnats used a solid performance behind Gabriel Ynoa to take a 1-0 series lead against the Green Jackets. Matz will start Game 2 tomorrow for Savannah. He last took the mound on August 30th against Greenville, allowing two runs on five hits, three walks, and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. In 58.2 innings of work in front of the home fans at Grayson Stadium, the southpaw is 2-3 with a 1.99 ERA, .212 opponent batting average, 16 walks, and 72 strikeouts.
