As of 10:00am EST today, here are today’s Mets minor league starting pitchers:
Salt Lake Bees @ Las Vegas 51s, 3:05pm EST
TBD vs. Aaron Harang (0-0, 4.50 ERA)
With Jacob deGrom‘s season likely over after exiting his final regular season start with shoulder stiffness, Wally Backman will turn to the newly-signed Aaron Harang. The former big leaguer made his organizational debut on September 2nd against Tucson, allowing two runs on seven hits (one homer), one walk, and five strikeouts in four innings of relief. He threw 120.1 innings in the major leagues this season with the Seattle Mariners, going 5-11 with a 5.76 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.
Season Over
The B-Mets couldn’t put any runs on the board last night, as the Trenton Thunder completed a three-game sweep with a 3-0 victory. Binghamton outhit the Thunder (11-10), as Daniel Muno, Josh Rodriguez, Xorge Carrillo, and Rhyne Hughes all collected more than one hit. Congratulations to the B-Mets on a spectacular season, even though it ended too soon.
OFF
Steven Matz was magnificent last night in Savannah; he allowed just one hit, no walks, and eight strikeouts in seven shutout innings to help propel the Sand Gnats to a 5-0 win over Augusta. That completed their two-game sweep of the series, allowing them to move on to the championship. They will begin the championship series Monday on the road, against either West Virginia or Hagerstown, which should be determined today.
