The Binghamton Mets pitching staff has been dominant of late, allowing only 21 runs over their 10 games which has resulted in the B-Mets winning eight of those games. They haven’t allowed more than four runs in a game since April 23rd and currently have a 3.19 ERA as a staff. Here is a look at the pitchers in the system who are doing well and not so well:

Who’s Hot

Josh Smoker – Las Vegas 51s

The hard throwing left-hander hasn’t allowed an earned run over his last five appearances (3.2 innings) and issued only one walk in that span compared to six strikeouts. For the season, he has a .348 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 10.1 innings and has yet to give up a homer.

Paul Sewald – Las Vegas 51s

Las Vegas native that has continued his great Mets career with a strong start to the 2016 season as the 51s closer. He has two saves in the last two 51s wins and three overall. He has been unscored upon over his last five innings and has struck out six in that time. In 13.1 Triple-A innings he as struck out 17 and has a strong 1.13 WHIP.

Andrew Barbosa – Binghamton Mets

In the tall lefties last two starts he has combined to go 12.1 innings allowing three runs on just six hits and has struck out 15. To start his Binghamton career he has held opponents to a .203 average with 19 K’s in 17.1 innings.

Alberto Baldonado – St. Lucie Mets

The 23-year old hasn’t given up a run since his first outing of the season on April 8th when he gave up one earned run. Since then, the lefty has thrown 11.1 straight scoreless innings 12 strikeouts and six hits. Overall, righties are hitting only .160 against him.

Alex Palsha – Columbia Fireflies

Palsha has been flat dominant since his awful appearance on Opening Night (0.2, 4 BB, 3 ER) going his last six innings without surrendering a run. During that span he has struck out 12 and given up three hits. He has struck out 22 batters this season in 11.2 innings giving him a 16.97 K/9 which is the best in the South Atlantic League and third best in minor league baseball.

Who’s Not

Rafael Montero – Las Vegas 51s

The once promising starter hasn’t been able to write the ship after two straight disappointing season and currently has a 6.50 ERA. Over his last two starts he has given up ten runs on 17 hits in nine innings. The Pacific Coast League is batting .338 against him in 2016.

Stolmy Pimentel – Las Vegas 51s

His return to the bullpen has yet to be successful with two bad relief appearances in a row after making three straight starts. His last two appearances has resulted in eight runs being scored on seven hits  in three innings. His ERA is now up to 8.66 for the season and opponents are clobbering him for a .351 average.

Jimmy Duff – St. Lucie Mets

A season long struggle for the tall righty has gotten worse over his last three outings in which he has allowed seven earned runs over 5.2 innings. He struck out only three over that span compared to five walks. Overall, he has seen 11 runs scored on him in 13.1 innings (7.43 ERA) with lefties hitting .556.

Josh Prevost – St. Lucie Mets

The Florida State League has not been kind to the Mets former 5th round pick who has a 5.40 ERA and 1.76 WHIP after 26.2 innings. During his last three starts he has given up a whopping 30 hits in 17.2 innings. A big reason for his early season struggles is that the league is hitting .333 against him with runners in scoring position.
