Las Vegas 6 , Sacramento 5

Righty Jacob deGrom started the game for the 51’s and pitched fairly well. He allowed one earned run while striking out five River Cats and walking two over five innings.  The Las Vegas offense was held in check until  the 8th inning when they put up a five spot, highlighted by RBI doubles off the bats of Zach Lutz and Eric Campbell. Lutz is hitting .400 on the season with 11 RBI. Bobby Abreu chipped in with two hits and a walk and is hitting .526 since his signing. Wilmer Flores continued to get the nod at shortstop, but struggled, going 0 for 4 at the plate and committing his second error in the field. Jeff Walters closed out the game and earned his second save. Las Vegas will move on to Fresno tonight as former 3rd round pick Logan Verrett gets the start at 10:05 PM ET.

 Binghamton 9, New Hampshire 1

Darin Gorski sparkled for the B-Mets tonight, pitching six innings and surrendering just one unearned run. the 6’4 southpaw befuddled the Fisher Cats to the tune of 10 strikeouts while allowing just two free passes via the walk. Binghamton got on the board in the second inning when Dustin Lawley clubbed his first homerun of the year on the heels of a Jayce Boyd double. Darrell Ceciliani stayed hot, going 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored, and a stolen base. He’s hitting an even .400 on the season. The B-Mets will take on New Hampshire again tonight at 6:35 PM ET as Rainy Lara takes the ball. (box score)

St. Lucie 13, Jupiter 3

20-year old Gabriel Ynoa took the mound for the St. Lucie Mets as they faced off against Jupiter. The righthander pitched well in his second start of the season, going six innings while allowing one earned run on four hits. He also struck out five and walked a pair. The Mets jumped out to an early lead on an RBI single by T.J. Rivera in the first inning. Rivera, starting at second base, went 4 for 6 on the night with five RBI. Centerfielder Brandon Nimmo continued his early season success, going 2 for 4 with three runs scored, two walks, two RBI’s and he slugged his first homer of the season. Dilson Herrera added a couple of hits, one of them a triple, and scored three times as the Mets thumped the Hammerheads. They’ll take on Fort Myers tonight at 6:30 PM ET. (box score)

Savannah 12, Rome 5

Venezuela native Miller Diaz toed the rubber for the first time in 2014 and didn’t get off to a great start. Diaz lasted just four innings and gave up three runs on five hits and struggled with command, walking three. The Savannah outfield of Stefan Sabol, Patrick Biondi and Jared King had a monster night, combining to go 7 for 12 with seven RBI, six runs scored and four walks. Shortstop Gavin Cecchini pitched in two hits and a walk, leading to two runs scored. Robert Whalen replaced an ineffective Diaz and pitched four solid innings. He allowed just one run on three hits but walked three, which was uncharacteristic of the 20-year old righty. Fellow 20-year old Robert Gsellman takes the mound tonight in search of his first win of 2014 as these same two teams will face off again at 7:00 PM ET. (box score)

Player of the Night

Player of the night honors goes out to St. Lucie second basemen T.J. Rivera, whose four hits and five RBI helped the High-A Mets beat Jupiter in convincing fashion. Rivers is now hitting .409 on the young season with 10 RBI.
