RENO 8, LAS VEGAS 5

For the first time this season, the Las Vegas 51’s have lost back-to-back games.  A poor outing from top prospect Noah Syndergaard had the 51’s looking up right from the start.  Syndergaard allowed six runs in only four innings, with three coming in the first inning.  Ryan Reid would come in for Syndergaard but would do any better as he allowed two runs on four hits while walking two in just two innings of work.  Erik Goeddel would do a fine job in relief going two innings allowing just one hit.  Las Vegas had plenty of chances to catch up but just couldn’t get the job done.  It is hard to win a game when you are in a hole early and leave 10 stranded on the base path.   Look for the 51’s to rebound on Sunday and get back to their winning ways and protect their lead in the Pacific Southern Division.

BINGHAMTON 3, NEW HAMPSHIRE 2

John Church picks up the win as the Binghamton Mets take the series finale against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-2.  Rainy Lara got the start Saturday and was solid through six innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits.  He would leave with the lead after the sixth inning and handed the ball over to the bullpen.  Church would give up a game-tying home run to New Hampshire’s Jack Murphy.  The B-Mets’ Matt Reynolds would get the rally started in the bottom of the 8th inning with a single off Richard Bleier and Matt Clark would drive him in for what would turn out to be the game-winner.  Chase Bradford would come in and slam the door shut on New Hampshire picking up his third save of the season.  With no game on Sunday, Binghamton will get ready to play host to Portland on Monday.

FORT MYERS 4, ST. LUCIE 0

St. Lucie apparently used up all of their runs on Friday night as they get shutout  in the series finale against the Fort Myers Miracle.  The Mets pitching really couldn’t get it together as starter Domingo Tapia lasted just four innings.  Tapia allowed seven base runners in his abbreviated outing and gave up two of the four Miracle runs.  After having 19 hits the night before, the Mets could only muster four on Saturday.  No game for St. Lucie on Sunday but will prepare for a home-and-home with the Palm Beach Cardinals.

SAVANNAH 3, GREENVILLE 3 – SUSPENDED

Mother nature would have a say in Savannah as yet another game was called early.  The SandGnats and Drive are tied 3-3 after 5 and a half innings.  It was the fourth game in the young season that would have to be rescheduled.  John Gant started for Savannah and went five innings allowing 8 hits and all three Greenville runs.  Jeff McNeil went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.  The game will resume on May 14th.  The game that was rained out on Friday will be made up on May 15th.  It will be a busy couple of days for these teams.

MMN PLAYER of the DAY

It was kind of a bleak day in the world of Mets Minors.  Not too many standouts to choose from for the Player of the Day.  I have decided to go Matt Clark.  Clark drove in the eventual game winner for Binghamton which was the only win of the night for the Mets organization.
