Noah Syndergaard

RENO 6, LAS VEGAS 1

Noah Syndergaard finally turned in a start that matches his status as a prospect as he twirled seven strong innings on Wednesday, only giving up four hits, no earned runs, two walks, and seven strikeouts. Zack Thornton also tossed two innings of scoreless relief and struck out three batters. Juan Lagares went 2 for 4, which may have been his last rehab game, as he is expected to join the Mets in Colorado. Eric Campbell picked up his 22nd RBI of the season. Zach Lutz had a nice game, picking up two hits, a run and an RBI. Jacob deGrom looks to stay perfect on Thursday as he gets the ball against the Reno Aces.

BINGHAMTON, AKRON – PPD

The B-Mets contest at Akron was postponed due to rain on Wednesday. The B-Mets are off Thursday and will start a series with Portland on Friday.

CHARLOTTE 6, ST. LUCIE 1

Steven Matz wasn’t as sharp as we’ve come to expect in this outing, allowing two earned runs on six hits in five innings. He also walked four batters while striking out five. The St. Lucie Mets could not really spark anything up on offense as they could only muster up six hits the entire game. No player had more than one as Dilson Herrera and Brandon Nimmo both had 1 for 4 nights. Michael Fulmer will take the hill on Thursday as the St. Lucie Mets look to get back on track.

SAVANNAH 1, DELMARVA O

This one was a straight up pitcher’s duel as Ricky Knapp went up against Delmarva on Wednesday. He spun seven innings without walking a batter and only gave up four hits. He also punched out six. Akeel Morris also contributed a scoreless inning of relief. Savannah’s bats were extremely quiet also as they scored just enough to get Knapp his first victory of the season. Struggling Gavin Cecchini had a 1 for 4 night and Dominic Smith is starting to heat up with a 2 for 3 performance. Robert Whalen will look to continue his hot start on Thursday.

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT

Noah Syndergaard tossed 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7K. These are the kind of lines that Mets fans expect from the Mighty Thor,  both now and when he arrives in Flushing and he did not disappoint tonight. Looks like he found his edge.
