Mets Minors Recap: Casey Delgado Twirls a Gem

Sacramento 5, Las Vegas 4

Sean Gilmartin started the game and went 3.2 innings while giving up one run on five hits. Sacramento scored first in the third inning as Gorkys Hernandez crossed home on a Ryan Lollis double. Vegas tied the game as Brandon Nimmo drove in Ty Kelly on a single stretched into a double with extra hustle. Sacramento scored again in the sixth on a Miguel Olivo home run off of Erik Goeddel and then in the seventh with a force out by Grant Green, scoring Ryan Lollis.

In the ninth, an error by Brandon Nimmo allowed Ramiro Pena and Mac Williamson to score after a Grant Green single, putting the game out of reach. Las Vegas made it dramatic, scoring three in the bottom of the ninth. Matt Reynolds and Johnny Monell singled, and then scored on a Travis Taijeron triple. He was then driven home by a T.J. Rivera double, but Rene Rivera could not bring T.J. home. Jeff Walters and Josh Smoker both chipped in scoreless innings in the defeat. Box Score

Harrisburg 4, Binghamton 3, 11th inning

BMets faced Nationals top pitching prospect Lucas Giolito, and were held scoreless. Lefty Kyle Regnault threw five scoreless innings with four hits, two runs, and four strikeouts. Harrisburg struck first in the third inning on an RBI single by Wilmer Difo, scoring Rafael Bautista. They scored again in the fifth with a double, followed by an Adrian Sanchez double, and then a sacrifice bunt, and Sacrifice Fly by Rafael Bautista.

The BMets struck back and took the lead with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. L.J. Mazzilli and Maikis De La Cruz scored on a Victor Cruzado single, and then Jeff McNeil scored on a Dominic Smith double play.

Harrisburg came back to tie in the next inning as Logan Taylor was wild, walking Kevin Keyes. Then Birthday Boy Xorge Carrillo allowed a passed ball, and a wild pitch allowing Keyes to advance to third, and then scored on a Chris Bostick sacrifice fly. The teams remained scoreless into extra innings before Harrisburg scored when Stephen Perez doubled in Bostick in the eleventh off Luis Mateo. The BMets could not muster a hit in the bottom of the frame and fell 4-3. Victor Cruzado led the offense with two hits and two walks. Dominic Smith did not do well, going 0 for 6 with three strikeouts. Box Score

St. Lucie 1, Dunedin 0

Rosario triples and scores on an error, creating the only run for this game. Casey Delgado started for St. Lucie and went six innings and giving up five baserunners while striking out five batters. Alberto Baldonado and Corey Taylor kept the Dunedin Blue Jays scoreless for the remaining three innings in the shutout.

Amed Rosario led the attack with two hits, including a single, and then a triple in the 6th inning, and then scored with a scoring error from Jays top Prospect Richard Urena. On his birthday, Tomas Nido continued his hitting streak with a single in the 4th inning, stretching him to five games. Box Score

Game 1: Columbia 3, Rome 1 

Columbia’s Tyler Badamo out-dueled Braves top pitching prospect Touki Touissant with six innings of one-run ball and striking out two. Rome scored in the second inning when Lucas Herbert was driven in on a Luke Dykstra single. However, Johnny Magliozzi shut the door in the 7th inning.

Columbia scored two in the second when Tyler Moore singled, and Ramos walked, and then Ivan Wilson doubled them in. They tacked another run with a Siena single and Thompson double. Box Score

Game 2 Columbia 3, Rome 2

Just like Noah Syndergaard tonight, Joe Shaw put on a pitching clinic with eight strikeouts over six innings while giving up two runs. Austin Riley struck first for the Rome Braves with a  solo home run in the second inning. In the sixth, the Braves scored another with an RBI Groundout from Riley.

However, the Fireflies struck back, scoring three in the ninth after Kevin Kaczmarski and  Siena walked. David Thompson singled in Kaczmarski, and Siena advanced on an error by Justin Ellison. After an Intentional walk to Jean Rodriguez, Jeff Diehl grounds out, scoring Siena, followed by a Joey Tuschak single, scoring David Thompson. Tyler Bashlor came in for the bottom of the ninth and shut the door with his fastball. Box Score
