Noah Syndergaard

FRESNO 9, LAS VEGAS 4

The 51s were dropped by the Grizzlies at home tonight, but perhaps the most important news is the injury sustained by Mets top prospect Noah Syndergaard. Coming off a recent elbow injury, the prospect known as Thor took the mound looking to get back on track. After allowing hits to two of the first three hitters faced and allowing a run, Thor uncorked a wild pitch with a runner on third and covered home for a play at the plate. Syndergaard fell over the sliding runner and injured his collarbone on his non-pitching side. He was removed from the game and replaced by Giancarlo Alvarado, who would pitch 5.1 innings and allow four earned runs. All of the 51s offense was provided by three homeruns, off the bats of Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Daniel Muno and Josh Satin. Juan Centeno and Taylor Teagarden would provide the only other hits for Las Vegas. The 51s and the Grizzlies will play again Friday night at 10:05 PM ET. Darin Gorki gets the start for Vegas. (box score)

ALTOONA 8, BINGHAMTON 5

Angel Cuan got the start for the B-Mets and didn’t last too long. The 25-year old southpaw lasted just 3 innings, allowed seven runs (four earned), struck out three and walked a pair. The bullpen pitched well as Jon Velasquez, T.J. Chism, Adam Kolarek and Chase Bradford combined to allow just one more run over the final five frames. Offensively, Eastern League leading hitter Matt Reynolds led the way going 3 for 5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Hot-hitting Kevin Plawecki managed just a hit, finishing 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Kyle Johnson, Dustin Lawley and Darrell Ceciliani also pitched in with a hit each. Binghamton will welcome in New Britain Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05PM ET. Matthew Bowman takes the mound for the B-Mets in search of his fourth win. (box score)

DUNEDIN 7, ST. LUCIE 4

Starter Matt Koch got knocked around to the tune of five runs on nine hits over five innings. He did notch six strikeouts without walking a player. Second basemen T.J. Rivera went 3 for 4 with a run scored and is hitting .356 on the season. Brandon Nimmo was held hitless on the night, but managed to get on base once via the walk. Jairo Perez had a great game, going 2 for 4 with a homerun and a double. Aderlin Rodriguez added an RBI double in the losing effort. These two teams will go at it again Friday night with first pitch slated for 6:30 PM ET. 21-year old Gabriel Ynoa gets the ball for the Mets. (box score)

CHARLESTON 5, SAVANNAH 1

Right-hander Miller Diaz looked human Thursday night, allowing four earned runs over 6.2 innings. The Venezuela native struck out six opponents, but waked three as he took the loss– his first of the season. Offensively the Sand Gnats couldn’t get anything going against Charleston starter Ian Clarkin. L.J. Mazzilli was the one bright spot, going 3 for 4 with a double and the lone RBI. Patrick Biondi, Jeff McNeil and Champ Stuart managed the only other hits– all singles. Dominic Smith and Gavin Cecchini combined to go 0 for 8 and both are now hitting .250 on the season. Robert Gsellman (3-3, 2.27 ERA) gets the start Friday night as these two teams face off again at 7:05 PM ET. (box score

DSL METS (2) 8, DSL ANGELS 6

One of the Mets two Dominican Summer League teams took the field on Thursday and picked up a win in spite of starter Aneury Olivo who lasted just 1.2 innings and walked five. Rigoberto Terrazas led the charge at the plate, notching 3 hits in 5 plate appearances. He drove in a pair and scored once himself. First basemen Victor Moscote went 2 for 4 with three RBI. Leadoff man Ysidro Pierre scored three times thanks to a single and two walks on the night. Catcher Carlos Sanchez went 1 for 4 with a two-run double. Heralded international signing Luis Carpio went 0 for 1 with three walks and is hitting just .154 early in the season. These two teams will square off again Friday morning at 10:30AM ET.  (box score
