Las Vegas 51s

LV

The 51s are continuing to find themselves in the thick of a playoff race with the Sacramento River Cats. They’re one game back of the Cats for first place in the PCL Southern Division after a 5-2 week, securing their 70th win of the season. They took three of four games from New Orleans, and two of three from Salt Lake, where they’ll be playing their series finale tonight.

Binghamton Mets

BING

The B-Mets continue to sail to new heights. They clinched their first playoff spot in nine years with a 5-4 victory over New Britain this weekend, and their magic number to win the Eastern Division is down to three. They went 4-2 this week against New Britain and Reading, and are 7-3 in their last 10 games. It’s clear they haven’t slowed down since losing Cesar Puello to his 50-game suspension. Their next win will be Binghamton’s 80th on the season.

St. Lucie Mets

StL

St. Lucie had an uneven week; they won their first three games, but have lost their last four in a row. Despite their losing streak, they remain just 1.5 games behind Charlotte for first place in the FSL South Division. The next seven games for the Mets will come on the road, so they’ll need to improve upon their 10-12 second half road record.

Savannah Sand Gnats

SAV

Mother Nature wrecked havoc on Savannah’s week, as they had back-to-back doubleheaders washed out on Friday and Saturday. Outside of that, the results weren’t great, as they finished their week with a 1-4 record. The week began by getting swept courtesy of the Rome Braves, then splitting a doubleheader last night with Augusta. At one game over .500, the first half champs are 5.5 games back of Augusta for first place, and have nine games on the schedule for this week.

Brooklyn Cyclones

BK

The Cyclones had a short week due to the NYPL All-Star break, going 3-2 and moving into second place behind the Aberdeen Ironbirds. They’re currently occupying a potential playoff spot in their division, but to take things to the next level and separate themselves from the Hudson Valley Renegades, they’ll need to improve their play on the road, which currently stands at a 12-17 record.

Kingsport Mets

KING

A 2-5 week for the K-Mets prevented them from catching Greeneville this week for first place in the APP West Division, but they remain 2.5 games behind them. They’re 4-6 in their last ten games, and will need to pick it up if they want to keep some distance between them and Elizabethton and Johnson City, who are both starting to play very well.

GCL Mets

GCL

Another 2-4 week for the GCL Mets keeps them in the basement with a 16-34 record. They’re 3-7 in their last ten games, but did win their last game of the week on Saturday. Hopefully, Dominic Smith and company will be able to get themselves on a streak today against the Cardinals.
