It’s been a rough year to be a Mets prospect with the likes of Jarred Kelenic, Anthony Kay, Simeon Woods Richardson, and Justin Dunn all being traded. All four guys would be in the Mets top 10 prospects and three of them have been in Top 100 lists for all of baseball.
The trading of prospects goes beyond that group as well. Bobby Wahl, Luis Santana, Scott Manea, Ross Adolph, Felix Valerio, Adam Hill, Neraldo Catalina, and Gerson Bautista were all dealt as well. Four players of that group are currently on their new team’s top 30 prospects list.
Combine the trades with what was also a disappointing season in terms of production from many top players, and the Mets have the No. 28 ranked farm system according to Baseball America. What looks like a strong 2019 draft could help those ranking in the near future.

Two of the more important developments this season in the Mets system was the breakout pro debut of Francisco Alvarez and the innings pitched by Thomas Szapucki. Other names we considered for this list were C Patrick Mazeika, SS Wilmer Reyes, RHP Tony Dibrell, OF Quinn Brodey, RHP Matt Blackham, RHP Stephen Villines, RHP Ryder Ryan, 3B Jose Peroza, OF Kenedy Corona, RHP Jordany Ventura, and RHP Harol Gonzalez.
Both Baty and Allan – 2019 draftees – helped the Brooklyn Cyclones secure their first New York Penn-League solo title in team history.
