It was difficult keeping it at three hitters, as T.J. Rivera it seems is always a worthy inclusion. Victor Cruzado is hitting the ball with authority in Binghamton, and Gavin Cechhini returned to the field in successful fashion. On the mound it was also a challenge, as Mickey Jannis found his knuckleball again,  and Tyler Bashlor continues his outstanding work out of the Columbia bullpen. Just not enough spots for everyone, which is a good thing.

Who’s Hot

Brandon Nimmo – Las Vegas 51s

Nimmo had his 10 game hitting streak stopped last night, though he did walk four times, once intentionally, to face TJ Rivera. Over his last 10 games, Nimmo has hit .375, raising his average on the year to an even .300, while elevating his OBP to a very respectable .385. Maybe even more importantly is he is driving the ball, during his hitting streak he racked up nine extra base hits, five doubles and four triples, scoring ten runs in the process.

Patrick Mazeika – Columbia Fireflies

In the eight games since coming of the DL, the backstop has hit .444/.529/.519 with two doubles and seven RBI. He has played four errorless games behind the plate, catching one of four would-be base stealers. The other four games he has been the DH, not yet having taken the field at first base.

Luis Guillorme – St. Lucie Mets

Over his last 10 games, Guillorme is batting .394 with 13 hits in 33 AB. He also has four sacrifice hits and four walks with only five strikeouts, doing the little things that a scrappy slap hitter needs to do.

Ricky Knapp – St. Lucie Mets

Knapp followed his MiLB FSL player of the week award pitching eight innings without an earned run, lowering his ERA on the year to 1.64. Knapp hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 15 innings, striking out eight while allowing only 7 base runners.

P.J. Conlon – Columbia Fireflies

Something may be off, Conlon saw his ERA raise this past week, from 1.04 to 1.06. It happened because he allowed one run, which also happens to be the one run he has allowed over his last 21 innings. During which he has 20 strikeouts, and 15 baserunners. On the season his WHIP stands at 0.96 and 43 strikeouts to six walks.

Andrew Church – Columbia Fireflies

This week we saw a dominant return to the mound for Church. He struck out nine in five innings in his season debut. He allowed two hits, with no walks. Safe to say he has earned some more starts in Columbia.

Who’s Not

Jhoan Urena – St. Lucie Mets

With five hits in his last 10 games with a .156 batting average he also seen his first action across the diamond at first base. He seems to be putting himself on the spot, running out of time before others (Thompson, Garcia) pass him by.

Maikis De La Cruz – Binghamton Mets

Maikis is 0 for his last 13 with six strikeouts. Over his last seven games, he is batting .148 stranding 11 without an RBI and for salt on the wound he was caught stealing.

Champ Stuart – St. Lucie Mets

Since going deep on May 18th, Stuart is batting a miniscule .095, with two hits in 21 at bats. He also only walked once and reached base on an error, making the most of those opportunities, he stole three bases and scored all four times he has reached base.

Sean Gilmartin – Las Vegas 51s

In his return to Vegas after some solid major league innings he was tagged for nine runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings.. He gave up two home runs in the outing including one to former Mets farmhand Josh Rodriguez.

Rainy Lara – Binghamton Mets

Over his last three starts, he has lasted a combined total of 11.1 innings. During that time frame he has allowed 15 earned runs on 21 hits, six of which left the yard. It may be time to move him back to the bullpen.

Gabriel Ynoa – Las Vegas 51s

Ynoa had a rough start in which he was very hittable. Allowing 11 hits in six innings, he did manage to minimize the damage only allowing four runners to score. Over his last two starts he has allowed 23 baserunners in 12 innings.
