Mets Hire Will Carafello As Director Of Social Media

The New York Mets have hired Will Carafello, former director of marketing for the New Jersey Devils, to the recently created director of social media position, according to a team release.

A New Jersey resident and graduate of Seton Hall University, Carafallo has been a part ofthe sports and entertainment industry for over a decade. He has done jobs for the Meadowlands, Madison Square Garden, Harlem Globetrotters and was part of a team of marketers that helped launch the Prudential Center.

Carafello has worked for the Devils since 2010, working with the organization to build their public status and help launch the team into the age of social media. The press release said, in part,

Prior to joining the Mets, Carafello was Director of Marketing for the New Jersey Devils. While there, Carafello was instrumental in the creation of “Mission Control,” the first digital command center within the sports and entertainment industry. He successfully guided the growth of the team’s social media engagement, an achievement realized via the Devils #1 Klout score in the NHL.

Carafello announced his employment with the Mets on Twitter as early as October 15, but the position was not officially named until today.
