New York Mets outfield prospect Wuilmer Becerra was throwing lightly today in minor league camp.
Becerra, 22, missed the end of the 2016 season because he had shoulder surgery in July. The young right fielder initially felt pain in his arm during spring training last season, but decided to play through the injury.
The injury certainly sapped power from from Becerra who hit .312/.341/.393 with 17 doubles and only one home run for the St. Lucie Mets last season. He played just 13 games in the field while being the designated hitter for a majority of his playing time.
Becerra was added to the 40-man roster this past offseason and was in major league spring camp up until earlier this week. He has gone 4 for 20 with two doubles, two walks and eight strikeouts this spring as a designated hitter.

Becerra…..the trade that keeps giving
Let’s hope he comes out of this with an arm that will still allow him to play RF. And then let’s hope he takes a step forward offensively, which would be impressive given how little he played last season.
Does he start at PSL or Bingo?
I have been told PSL, I guess that could depend on how the throwing goes.
Well then if Becerra is in St. Lucie, I agree with the commentary to the Spring pictures that Kevin Kaz goes to Binghamton along with Biondi , Stuart and maybe Cruzado.
Now convinced that Tenow stays in Florida and starts at upper A. Say what you want about him, he works hard, learns fast and is an incredible athlete. If he was 5 years younger none of would doubt that he would succeed.
