It was a splendid day for Mets pitching as Peterson, Humphreys, Gilliam, and Taylor combined to shut-out the Surprise Saguaros handing them only their second loss of the AFL season.

Peterson started the game and struggled with his command most of the night. He allowed seven batters to reach base in only three and a third innings pitched as he only threw 38 of his 68 pitches (56%) for strikes. Despite the poor command, his stuff was still pretty good as he was able to generate nine swinging strikes (13.2%) on the night.

Humphreys replaced Peterson in the fourth inning with one out, runners on first and third, and bailed Peterson out of the tough spot with a fly-ball out and ground-ball out to end the inning. He would go on to face the minimum through his three and two-thirds innings of work thanks to excellent defensive plays from Ali Sanchez (picked off a runner at 1B) and Logan Warmouth (diving catch and doubled off runner at 1B). Humphreys was efficient, needing only 36 pitches (26 strikes [72%]) to get through his night.

Ryley Gilliam would be called upon to pitch the eighth inning and despite ANOTHER error being committed behind him, he was able to maintain the Scorpions 2-0 lead. Blake Taylor pitched the ninth inning and earned the save by striking out three of the four batters he faced.

Offensively, the Scorpions were held in check for most of the game as they only scored one run on three hits through the first seven innings, with Carpio and Gimenez accounting for two of the hits and Carpio scoring the run.
