Mets Release 23 From Minors on Monday

The Mets have yet to fully begin paring down their minor league rosters as the offseason gets underway, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some filler to be cut. The organization released 23 players on Monday, including a pitcher with major league experience and a former 10th-round draft pick.

McGowan tossed 8.2 innings for the Mets in 2017 before being removed from the 40-man roster in the offseason when the team signed Jay Bruce. Cone reached Double-A this past year but finishes his Mets career with a .225/.305/.270 slash line.
