Mets Release Lefty Reliever Kelly Secrest

The New York Mets released minor league lefty Kelly Secrest on Sunday. He was on the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s roster.

Secrest, 26, had a 11.12 ERA and 2.30 WHIP in 5.2 innings over four appearances the 51s in 2018.

The Mets drafted the lefty in the 10th round of the 2014 draft out of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

In 188 innings over 126 appearances in five seasons in the Mets minor league Secrest had a 3.49 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 8.4 H/9 and 9.2 K/9.

Veterans Vance Worley and Buddy Baumann joined the the 51s roster and both made their debuts on Sunday. The right-handed Worley was signed to a minor league deal earlier this month and the lefty Baumann was claimed off waivers earlier in the week.

Right-hander Marcos Molina was also sent back down to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies after allowing nine runs in only 8.2 innings in two starts for the 51s.
